For all of you megasquirt users on the forum, what is your AFR at idle? I am trying to get an idea of what kind of good results other people are getting. I am running about 13.5:1 with 12 degrees of advance and my engine is very happy. I am curious to see if anyone has been able to get their engine to idle at 14.7 without the engine "hunting" at idle.

We run 14 degrees at idle.Maddog wrote:For all of you megasquirt users on the forum, what is your AFR at idle? I am trying to get an idea of what kind of good results other people are getting. These motors typically do not like 14.7 at idle. I tune idle for smoothness not economy. 900rpm and high 13s do it for me.

That sounds good; it's all about making the motor 'happy'.Maddog wrote:For all of you megasquirt users on the forum, what is your AFR at idle? My worn-out m30 idles at about 35KPA warm.
Is yours similar?

What RPM are you idling at and what advance are you running to be able to run at 35kpa?FirstFives Dictator wrote:That sounds good; it's all about making the motor 'happy'.

It's an e12 so I'm used to a little higher idle and no idle control

Idle MegaSquirt
I just got my car to pass Ontario Emissions with:
12 degrees advance
14.8:1 target and 3% authority to the wideband closed loop
47 KPa
1000 RPM
measured mixture - from 14.9 to 15.2
Emissions measured
CO% = 0.00
HC ppm = 10
the car idles like a stock E34 535 in terms of solid and smooth.
