Turbo Oil Drain

Post by Brad D. »

I have found several pictures of drilled and tapped oil pans on m30 turbos, notably this pic.

I can get a roungh idea of its location from the pic, but it would be nice if someone had a template or a center location based off of some datum points before I go and drill a hole. Anyone have some measurements on exactly where to drill?
Also, it appears the pic above is1/2 NPT tapped into that pan. Is that what most recommend as what to tap into the oil pan?

Keep it as close to the top of the pan as possible. If you go too low there is a baffle in there that can create problems. Otherwise, it's a seat of the pants type of deal and yes, it's 1/2 NPT.
