I replaced the little bastards this afternoon, and all six showed the slight peppering I'm familiar with as a sign of detonation. Not black specks, but lighter colored ones. They're a lot like little bread crumbs, mostly on one side of the plug. I know the engine has detonated with the plugs in there, but I'm not sure if these guys came off of the tops of the pistons of if they're from something else entirely like fuel additives. I also havent heard it detonate since it was at the dragstrip, so I would be somewhat concerned if it has been pinging enough to burn up pistons without me being able to hear it.
Would the plugs still show specks from detonation that happened like two weeks ago? Or do the little brown specks have anything to do with detonation at all?
