ROFL It's a sticker on the packaging, but I did laugh at the irony of the pic right after I posted it. Hope it's not an omen!

Update

Post by navyandy »

Even though I had a decent bottom end in the m30b35, a customer left their totaled 745i at my buddies shop for 8 months and before he sent it off for crushing he checked the bottom end because I was interested in the under piston oil squirters. Low and behold the crank and rods were in outstanding condition (better than my b35) and balanced out perfectly with minimal fanfare (plus go go knock sensor boss). Looks like my 93.5mm custom pistons have a new m106 bottom end to go with my massively ported b35 head. Looks like my milk money will go far with Todd's assistance! Getting exited now!

How much did those pistons run you??? I'm considering doing an engine build before turboing my car as well... i know i'll be using a cometic hg and ARP head studs.... just considering different pistons/rods for fun... maybe an M106 bottom end as well but i have to find a cheap one... i have an extra b34 head i may port and polish too....

I don't have the invoice in front of me right now, but I spent $1600 on the pistons with moly skirts and ceramic coating with wrist pins. Plus my MLS headgasket, ARP hardware and a few other misc things were on that invoice. I bought a lot of stuff so I'll have to break it down once I get the invoice in front of me.

IIRC, Todd at TCD buys multiple sets of JE pistons with the 745i profile from time to time and they are very reasonably priced since he is a steady customer and buys in quantities greater than my one, one off set. Might want to give him a call and see if he can hook you up.
