Topic Reply Notification

Why do the links in the Topic Reply Notification e-mails now feature the IP address? For those of us who use Microsoft Outlook, or possibly other mail clients, it's a PITA, since Outlook disables IP address links.

You don't have to patronize the Evil Empire. ;)

Probably because our DNS likes to crap on us lately, so the IP URL is the most reliable way to access it.

Justin would know for sure, but that's my guess.

PS - You can't un-disable it?

Those are all super ideas. What it makes me do now is click a box to enable links, then reminds me it is not recommended. See, I don't want to do that. I figured the DNS problems were the reason. It works fine on the Mac, though. Apple Mail is actually pretty cool. I'll screw it all up when I put Entourage on it, though. Even though it's just my "creative" computer.

Doubt it. Entourage is superior to Apple Mail, and Entourage doesn't have all of the BS from Outlook. It's more intuitive than Outlook, but there are some similarities.

The other novel idea would be to come to the site and click "view my posts" or "show posts since last visit" instead of being lazy. 8)

Or get Thunderbird. I'm liking it, lots.

I'm using Outlook 2000 here and there are no issues with the links with IP address shown working. What is pissing me off though is the fact that I can't get the REPLY or QUOTE links to work on the site. Both buttons just send me back to the root menu.

Is this when you come to the site via the link in the topic reply e-mail or all the time?

Yeah, that first one but it's all fixed now that the IP address links have gone away again. Nothing to see here, move along people.
