Hinges

Post by sonofsaturn »

I need a hood hinge for the driver's side, preferably in Canada. Not sure why I need it, but mine is stretched forwards. Makes the hood not line up.

Thanks

Steve Haygood has them for about $45. Buy a new one, worth the money.

Soak it with penetrating oil and SLOWLY work the hinge through its motions. Then apply liberal grease to both hinges. Two of my e28's had bent hoods from the hinges seizing up and the previous owner trying to force them closed to close the hood. They bent just foward of where the hinge mounts to the hood, so be careful. Another car had a broken hinge.

I had to apply little heat to one side to get the pivots to loosen up.

It moves freely enough, not perfect but OK, but it's bent. Kinda stretched.
