I'sa gots one ah dem thar "Tee Cee Dee" cars.

TCDs1, 10psi, Motronic, 3.46 diff. 0-60 in "Hahahahaha. What? Were you trying to keep up?"

Image

Dyno sheet? Ok, this is the most recent. Stock is blue, boost is red. That top end problem has been resolved, but I haven't had a chance to get it back on the rollers.

Image

Oh, wait. I have two! Silly me, can't forget the good lookin' one . . .

TCDs3, 12psi, SEM (Megasquirt), 2.93 diff. "Look, ma, I can do a buck-twenty in third!" Gets 23 mpg.

Image

It's been dynoed at 18psi, and I have a sheet for that somewhere. 388hp/440tq at the wheels. I don't have power info for the current boost level.

No dyno sheet, but it ran a 13.2 @ 107.5 in the 1/4 mile BEFORE the intercooler install...

Why'd you get an innercooler instead of an outercooler? :dunno:

isn't this an aftercooler anyway?

intercoolers are used between the 1st and 2nd stage turbo in sequential turbo setups :)

How about we call it a charged air cooler?

Technically this is correct, but very few people know what the hell you're talking about when you say that. I dont know why "intercooler" couldnt refer to a cooler between the compressor and the engine anyway, other than because it wasnt traditionally called that.

My S2 is technically still considered a car, I guess. It's completely gutted, the motor's on a stand and this weekend we start building a tube frame to make up for the lack of structural integrity following the driveshaft mess. After that comes a full cage and then the fun begins. This time around there will be driveshaft hoops!

I'll post some pics throughout the fabrication process.

How do you incorporate a tube frame into a unibody car?

yeah, I got an S2 but it's an E24 so I'm an interloper here. Tuned to 14 psi but getting closer to 15 when ambient temp gets below 60 F or so. Haven't dyno'ed the car but it goes like stink.

Kyle

We're running 2x3 square tubing from the front to the back. It'll be sistered to the front frame rails and will attach directly to the rear subframe. There will also be cross members made of the same material, essentially creating a ladder frame. The cage will then attach directly to the 2x3 crossmembers. With the floor being toast, we've got a clean slate to work with. Most of it will wind up getting cut out and we'll probably make a new tunnel as well, since that got pretzeled.

You guys are gutsy.
I heard TCD doesn't know what he's doing and his turbo cars always go BANG!

I read it on the internets, so I know it's true!

Never to be left off the list but often late for class. Yes my car has still got the TCD in it. Just waiting for that new engine now.

Any pics of the air-air setup? What'd you use for the heat exchanger?

It's a big Spearco, IIRC. It took some "modification." Looks good if you have his skills.

I have a TCD S2 set up in my 87 535is. It is running 8lbs of boost with a 3.73 rear end. I have the 13lb boost spring but I want to change back to a 3.25 rear before doing that.

As it is, it is about as fast as my stock 3rd gen RX7 was. I ran against an e46 M3 from about 35-70mph and got a car ahead, which I didn't expect. At the time I had another guy in the car and the M3 driver was alone, so that was an extra 200 lbs.
