Typical small-block Chevy with accessories weighs less than an M30 long block. The LS motors have Al heads IIRC, and the V8 block is more compact and rigid. The shorter overall length moves the weight back, which helps the polar moment of inertia. Overall a V8 E28 should outhandle an I-6.
