So I drove in a buddy's G60 VW Corrado --

As you know, the G60 corrados come supercharged stock. His corrado had some nice fuel upgrades, suspension, and amazing wheels and brakes. He also bumped the boost from the stock 7psi to 15psi (Pretty high for a stock supercharger!).

Anyway -- he took me for a ride and FLOORED IT.

All I have to say is ~0 ~0 OH MY GOD! ~0 ~0

Where is the power?!?!?!? A stock 535i had more kick than this thing!!! I mean -- I complemented the guy on his car, and I was impressed (much less than I had thought it would be though). Anyway -- I can't wait to give him a ride in the turbo 535is -- He'll be quite impressed!

And he's got a brand new G-tech performance meter which he said I can try out in my car -- So I'll be posting some of those readouts soon!!

One of my buddies just got a G60 corrado, probably about as souped up as your friends, claiming 210 horsepower at the crank. He considers it really fast because his last car was a 134 horsepower Jetta Mark II. He isnt happy with the size of the interior and is wanting to trade it for another Jetta. I am trying to get him to look at some Craigs List 535i bimmers in the area, some as low as 1500 dollars only needing a fender. Anyway hes too much of a VW nut to ever switch. I think I agree with you about the Corrado G60 being impressive, but not as much as I had been led to believe.

The G60 Corrados are dogs. Beautiful cars, but real doggy. They are actually quite heavy, I think even more so than the Jettas (maybe 2850lbs?) and the stock 8v head and crappy SC are limiting. With a Lhysolm SC and/or 16v head they can do better.

Corrados are beautiful cars, I looked into buying one before I chose
the 535iS. IMO the VR6 is the only way to go, totally different car than
the G60. The early cars(G60) had more problems and expensive
to repair. Also cost alot more than the BMW I chose to purchase.
I would buy one only the VR6, but as time goes by they are harder
to find in stock / un molested condition. Most seem to be "drive it
like you stole it" I would just love to have my 1979 Scirocco and
drop in the VR6 motor, but I can't be lured away from BMW's

I had two Corrado G60s before I converted to BMW. Yes, it is underpowered but it is a great platform and really performs well. The VR6 versions are much more desireable and they do offer turbos for them. All in all, I really enjoyed mine and would buy one again.
