What is the hub bore of the proposed wheels? If it's the same as the e39, you'll need hubcentric rings to adapt the wheels to the e28 hub. As Shawn states, you'll also need to know the offset of the wheels. In the size you propose, a better wheel is one designed for e38 7-series. They have the correct center bore, and in size 17x8 most of them (but not all) are 20mm offset and with a 225/-18 tire, 40 series if memory serves, they will fit most e28's.
