Bilstein sports is out of the question for they are too overdamped for my liking.

What shocks would you folks recommend I go with given that my car is about 2" lower than stock?

I am thinking Boge TG but worried they may easily bottom out on these bad roads in SK.

TIA

Koni adjustable reds! If I had heard about them before I purchased my Bilstein, thoes would have been the ones for me. I am quite low that I have to be very careful about crossing speed bumps.

Klaus,

What spring are you running to be 2" lower than stock?

Brad,

I do not know what brand of springs I have installed for the car came from Germany with them on. I also had to sign some kind of waiver before I could put the car on the road. She definitely sits lower than my 535is which had BAS springs.

Thanks for the confirmation Darin. I will look into the Konis.

Klaus

Basically the rear springs will not be trapped.

There is only one shock absorber that is off the shelf that will trap it..the Bilstein Sprintline shocks.

The fronts you can get Koni Yellow sports which will suit, and the bilstein sprintline.

(the front is not a huge deal as they will be trapped with even stock shocks)

The rear will be trapped under load though.

The Koni Reds, DO NOT TRAP THE SPRING when that low
but, i have Koni reds that i had Rebuilt by a Koni Expert here, and they revalved them to a higher rebound than the Yellows..which they say is better than Konis yellow sports valving...and added internal spacers to trap the spring by shortening the shock.

Basically they are better than the Yellows after rebuild.. ..except you cant adjust them in the car like the yellows.....not a huge issue though.

Yellows can be rebuilt the same....Koni dont make Yellows for the rear of E28 though.

Find a Koni rebullder int he US and do IT Ill be doing my front the same way next. The rear is a Pancake throught the twistys. I dare say i have the BEST handling Rear struts in any E28..soon to be the best front.

Bilstein will revalve their shocks for a fee, you can have them modified to your liking. Last time I heard the fee was $60.00 per. :)

Bilstein Sports are the shock of choice, particularly since lowered springs are almost always a higher rate than stock, they need additional dampening. The most likely springs you have are either BMW M-Tech (the least likely due to your drop) or H & R's which are extremely popular in Germany. H & R's are usually painted blue. :D
