Alrigh, I know this is a BMW forum, but, I'm having trouble with my volvo. I know this is pretty elementary stuff, but, it's been awhile since I've dealt with ignition problems, and hell, it's still Motronic, lol.
Alright, it's an 84 240 GL wagon, Non-turbo. It ran for awhile, I just bought it and parked it. I was gonna take it for a drive one day, and found that I lost power to my dash. Everything completely went dead. I just went out to play with it today, cranked it, and nothing. I get out my DMM, start rooting around. I have no spark comming out of the coil, this much I knew for a fact. I get out my DMM, test for power and ground to the coil. Now, see, the 2 wires going to the coil, are sooo corroded it's not even funny. I showed proper power and ground everywhere. But, I did disturn the corroded wires with the point on my test lead, adn I think that it gave continuity back to the wire for a lil while, cuse, I got in the car, and the car started again. I drove it around, and, again, I lost power to the dash, and when I shut it off, it would not start again. It would crank, but not fire.
Now, he's my other question: If I were to simply cut and replace the wires going to the coil, which wire is pos and neg? It's a bosch coil, and says near the terminals 1 and 15. I forget, but, the coil has power all the time, and ground is pulsed by an ignition module, correct? Or is it the other way around? I figure this could be my first line of attack, since there are a ton of corroded wires, and this seemed like the closest culprit to the problem, and needs to be fixed Anyway. If anybody else has any idea's, lmk. Thanks again, mye28 breathren.
