Forum suggestion..

Post by BMWgiant »

When viewing a members profile, we have the ability to contact people through email, pm, msn, yahoo, and aol instant messagers. What is the possibility of adding a facebook link? It seems like it's a legit way to communicate with people now a days.

Feel free to use the WWW url to point to your facebook/myspace/twitter or whatever other site floats your boat.

Well I have that linked to a facebook photo gallery of my car. It seems more fitting to be linked to my car than to my profile. I just thought this would be a good idea after seeing the little logos for AOL, MSN, and Yahoo, knowing that facebook also has a little logo that can easily be added. I know I have a lot of members on MyE28 as friends on facebook and It seems like this would be an easy way for members to find each other.

I think it would make sense under the Contact section.

Another suggestion would be to remove all the cars you don't own from your signature to free up characters and then you will have plenty of room to insert a Facebook link, like this:

Visit me on Facebook

OR, from what I just researched online, if you have a vanity URL, you just do http://www.facebook.com/username instead of the link structure in the above example.

Just a thought...

I'd prefer not to share my profile on my signature, but I wouldn't mind having it in my contact. I wouldn't display any of my contact info in my signature either.

I'm sorry, but I guess no one will be able to find you on Facebook unless you add it to your signature. It won't be added to this current software, but maybe after a migration to phpBB v3 I'll keep it in mind for the future. There is probably an existing mod package anyway for v3, which would make it easy to do, I'm sure.

Cool. It was just a suggestion. I didn't think it would actually happen soon. I just want the idea considered.
