If anybody is interested in a caravan from the Houston area, and/or meeting along the way...

Google maps states it's a 2 hour and 57 minute drive,
since it's only 117 miles,
I'm sure it can be driven in 2 and 30 minutes, or less, so;

I'll be leaving the HEB parking lot at 7:30 AM,
northeast corner of the Barker Cypress and Hwy 290 intersection.
Hopefully I'll be there by 7:00 to meet, gas up, etc.

We'll travel west on 290 to Brenham,
then north on 36 to Caldwell,
then west on 21 about 4.3 miles,
then north on FM 908 through Rockdale,
and the last 9.5 miles, staying on FM 908, to Apache Pass.
Click here for the Google Map link.

Let me know if you're wanting to meet here or along the way.

In case of emergency, my cell phone number is
Eight Three Two - Three Two Six - Nine Zero Four Seven.

Gettin' close.
There are a few things you'll need to bring to make it a success.

"What to bring list"
#1 - Registration fee - $10 - $15 per adult + #2
#2 - One "new" or "good used" E28 part or an item of "BMW" paraphernalia.
#3 - A vegetable or salad dish to share.
#4 - A dessert to share.
#5 - Your personal beverages, cups, ice, etc.
The next 4 items are optional.
#6 - Lawn chairs
#7 - Yard games, etc., for both adults and children.
#8 - Fishing gear? There is a small creek.
#9 - Camera
As a side note,
the event will be mentioned Friday and Saturday on KRXT-FM 98.5.

Supposed to be dry here through Sunday... where's that praying emoticon?

I'll be washing cars tomorrow, myself.

Well, unfortunately no one wanted to take my route tomorrow. That being said, I can't attend. This makes me mad because I had posted the route for a good almost month in advance (usually they get taken within a week of posting) and even went as far to offer a baked goods/monetary incentive if it was taken. Oh well. Maybe I can catch the next meet up. Hope y'all have a safe trip and a great time tomorrow!

Don't worry, Sherman, I wouldn't be able to do :haul: tomorrow because I can have the pedal to the metal and still be crawling in those buses. Let me know when you are in town. Maybe we can do something in December sometime during the break. Have a hamburger for me, will ya? ;)

Hope y'all have a great time tomorrow.

Just left event

Post by nacomarti »

Danny and I are in the car leaving Apache Pass. We had a great time. Thanks to Sherman for hosting.

Great event. Nice seeing everyones rides. We look forward to the next one.

Hopefully, we will have better stories next time. Sherman's hose and Memo exhaust are hard to beat.

See you on the next one. We will be more prepared. (i.e. string, exhaust hangers, hose clamps, duct tape)

Sorry it is over!!

Wow....Made it home. Just hit the rain at the south edge of Dallas.

What a great day. Many thanks to Sherm, Brad and Mark for facilitating and organizing a great afternoon of e28's.

I appreciate every ones kind words and kudos on my car. It was great to get some more ideas, technical info and knowledgeable insight into my money pit. :)

I could do this type of gathering more than once a year!

I know I did not get to talk to every one at length and I am horrible with names (even with name tags!!) but I enjoyed meeting all of you and like Jim said: 25 years from now, I would like to still be getting together. We could all be driving something different, but these are great cars, fun to drive, restore and enjoy. I could not think of a better representation for the marque, than the guys in TEXAS. Take care and see you next week on mye28.com......time for a little Larry David and then off to bed.

Wow, what an awesome day. It was great to meet everyone and see so many fine cars. I'd like to say a special thanks to Sherman and Mark for putting together such a great event and at such a nice locale. The weather was great too! I hope that this becomes an annual event. Here are some pics from the event.

Good turnout!

The roundel on that E34 M5 is clever. Haha. And damn do I wish that E28 M5 was in my garage right now. Nice selection of red cars, too.

Great photos, Clint and Brad.
