Finally, changed the low pressure return line from the steering pump to the canister and canister filter. Refilled with Dexron III ATF…cold weather whining sound at start up is now a sound of the past. :banana:

Well, since Cory busted out the windshield in my old M5, guess I'll post up what I did today on my new M5:

1. Cleaned out air filter box and replaced filter
2. Replaced the foam "donut" that seals the filter box to the cold air intake panel behind the headlights.
3. Removed rear tail lights and thoroughly cleaned and waxed tail light panels.
4. Replaced tail light gaskets.
5. Removed license plate lights. Cleaned and waxed area (no rust!!!).
6. Replaced license plate lights with new parts.
7. Removed old washer fluid tank. Cleaned fender area and replaced with new fluid tank, including new cap, rubber gaskets for pump and fluid level sender - NO LEAKS! :banana: :banana:
8.Drank 3 beers.

I decided to take the afternoon off today - we had a very nice day in middle GA, the first one in awhile. High temp about 60 and sunny. Very pleasant and it felt good to take care of some of my "to do" list on the car.

Sounds like Mike had a great day, cleaning and waxing on a 60 degree day. I wish. I finally got out in the garage tonight since it warmed up to 25 degrees. I found that I actually preferred that temp to 35 since i didn't have snow melting off the car and dripping on me.

I finally fixed my gas leak that has been plaguing me. I have had a leak at the T fitting and hadn't been able to fix it (when i actually had time to work on it) I found it was the line going from the steel line down by the frame and up to the T that was giving me the problems. It was still the old 8mm line and the T was 5/16, as were the other 2 lines. 5/16 isn't close enough to 8mm for the T I guess, I think it is more like 7.99mm, which surprising enough is enough to make it leak even with a clamp. Anyway tonight is the first night it has spent in the garage for at least 3 weeks. I didn't want the smell in the attached garage, and I didn't trust a car with a gas leak in there anyway. If I was to have a BBQ I didn't want it in my garage! Sucked with the cold weather and snow lately to have it parked outside though. Great to have it inside now, and i am celebrating with a little Turkey and sprite... :beer:

The positive is that I was able to complete (except for a new window) my "To Do" list and buy a case of Valvoline VR1 20W50 (non-synthetic).
Runs shockingly well and am still working on permission from my wife to go to V@V in May.

Replaced the radiator...in the dark. Also set the Euro plate my girlfriend got me on the dash until I get around to mounting it.

Now every part of the cooling system in the car is less than two years old. :alright:

picked up some cardinal door cards, drivers tail and a 2002 owners manual at the local pick and pull.
and installed the 5er parts.
sitting on jack stands until i get all the suspension parts.

Ground the rust off of the rear euro bumper mount. Painted with four coats of engine enamel and replaced.
Fitted front and rear Hartge spoilers. Taking them for paint tomorrow.
Removed front brake calipers in preparation for coilover swap in.
Removed and smoothed metal in a few places to make more room for new oil cooler lines.

Not really, it'd been in my signature, FOR SALE, since last November.
I'd had several members contact me about it, but none were close.
If you're referring to the the Craigslist and ad here, then maybe so.
It was definitely a very good deal to the purchaser.

Friday night- spent an hour in a 35 degree rain storm replacing the spark plug wires and o2 sensor (only took about 15 min for both) and spent the rest of the time figuring out why my driveability problem persisted. Slept on it and while trying to sleep thought about the issue and figured out it was a bad fan clutch. Saturday- Went down the street, purchased that... went to Suffolk, purchased a used fan blade, installed, and the car is like new again. :D Sunday- washed and detailed the car inside and out from 2 weeks of snowy onslaught. :cool:

Saturday I got the day to myself on one of the lifts at work, replaced the alternator and fuel filter in the e23, bled the brakes, replaced the diff and transmission fluid. I still hate the g265 in that thing. I'm going to put in my spare, it shifted nicer.

Sunday I spent putting a 1.3 swap in a boardmember's car in San Jose. Came out incredibly nice. Looking forward to seeing it cleaned up after we get the rest of the parts.

Broke out the tape measure and figured out how to make my 2 car garage a 3 car storage/work area. (without a lift)

Luckily one of the cars is a classic mini. Makes it a little easier.

twisted the tail light bulbs in the tail lights to get a better connection, and drove to the store for no good reason ;)

Replaced the heater valve core (who knows, I may actually drive in cold weather sometime :shock: )

Installed the new accelerator cable, that I have so rightfully been dreading. This was one of the the most tedious, frustrating things I have ever done on the car. The backs of both my hands are all scraped up.

Got the low fuel light to turn on.

Seriously. I didn't want to drive the car that low on fuel, but I haven't had the time to get fuel. Last time I drove it was Sunday at the auto-x, and I've been driving the touring, but it was full from my yard trip today (there will be a thread about it) and I couldn't take it to work like that.

Well, that's the first time I've seen the light since I got the car and it took a little over 15 gallons.

Bled the brakes on the M5, and installed delrin shifter console bushings, care of my cheapass box of shifter parts I bought from a board member.

replaced the heater (lower) blower motor....wow what a pain in the neck piece!!!! also put some screws in that were missing in misc areas around the dash and killed all the little rattles and squeaks :) fixing to run to corpus and put her on the highway for the first time, going to pick up a cd player for the 528 and visit some family.... pretty productive day ide say. oh also found out i need to replace the snow flake button in the dash as it is sticking...
