Rare, who knows? Reading the replies it seems I may have the only saphirblau mettalic (at least admitted to). Perhaps it was only available on the 84 533i. Yes it came with the "unnatural" dark blue leather.

Hey, how did that Savannah Beige 533i get Euro bumpers? Although probably not the color I would have chosen, my '84 528e is Balticblau metallic. I would have bought the car in a darker blue or DiamondSchwarz if I was the original owner, but I don't have an all-time favorite color. Too many good ones to choose from. Here's the Baltic:

Enchanter, that is a beautiful car. The graphite looks great. Headlights have wipers but not the windshield? No nozzles? Sorry, I've never seen an Alpina in person, what's up with all of that? Thanks.

The H&B 533i Turbo that was in Cali a year or so back was Graphite.

I've seen maybe 2 or 3 more on top of that.

I may have you all beat for the rarity factor. My 85 535i is Zobelbraun - Metallic, with
Pearlbeige cloth seats. Don't see that combo every day, if ever!
I have never seen a green e-28. some shade of dark green mettallic would be my favorite. I have grown into lachsilber/ cardinal however
Perhaps a smaragdgrun metallic would be to your liking: http://www3.telus.net/bmw535i/exterior.shtml

Mike in Louisville,

The 533i got the bumpers the same way all US/NA 5ers get them, installed by the owner.

I installed the bumpers and Euro headlights during the initial resurection of my 533i from driveway ornament to driver. At the same time I did the bumper upgrade I also installed a G265 transmission mit M5 Clutch/Pressure Plate and Autosolution SS. The original transmission failed in 1998 and my 533i sat in the driveway for 2 years while I collected the parts.

When the pics where taken at 5er Fest #1, the interior had also been replaced with one from an '87 535is with the exception of the front seats. The front seats where E21 Recaros custom upholstered to match the Tan Beige 535is interior. Ditto for the rear headrests.

Thanks Rich, that's what I figured, I didn't know if I was remembering correctly that 533i's were US only. I believe I've seen that color on an e21, but never an e28. Looks like a very nice car.

dab,

The color of your car is awesome! I remember seeing pics of it about a year ago. I couldn't remember whose car it was, but always admired it. You definitely get my vote for rarest color.

My personal favorite is LachSilber. It has to be in good shape though. When cleaned up, this color is gorgeous!

Ryan Rissler in the Atlanta area. It's a 528e with the "i" treatment, M5 swaybars, Bilsteins, H&R springs, and a 3.73LSD. He used to frequent our autocrosses, but I haven't seen him around lately. AFAIK, he's never posted to either Roachfly or the mye28.com boards.

And one of these days . . . . I think I'll have to have one of our beloved 5er's coated in Turkis Green Metallic, a pre '75 BMW color:

But for now, I'm enjoying Diamantschwarz...... am always partial to Cinnibar, too -- rare and very cool.

Layton, I agree with the color choice. My favorite vintage colors are as follows in no particular order: Turkis Green, Riveria Blue, Inka orange, and Atlantik Blue.

White of course....can't imagine why?!
Just wish BMW would have made the rear spoiler ALL white.
