Picked up some nice goodies today. First find was a perfect rear view mirror with map lights, it had been removed from the car but left lying on the floor -- change of heart? Then a fine spline sport wheel, you'll find that in the 'for sale' section if interested. This e30 also yielded a complete trunk mount battery cable with the power distribution block that goes on the firewall. That will be great for setting up my e12 when I bolt in the rear strut brace/battery mount. I also snagged one projector foglamp from a 750il, I think it might work well for a stealth foglamp setup mounted under the bumper of the e12. I left behind an nice A/C compressor and an 80a alternator, I forgot to get a wheelbarrow and wasnt' willing to abandon my best find for the 10 minutes it would have taken to go get one.
The Kronenjuwel -- the elusive SAAB glass moonroof. A complete setup from a nice '86, and I mean complete -- I pulled the headliner and unbolted the whole carrier from the roof, cables, sunshade and all. It's a method I'd recommend, it took only about 10 minutes and the only snag was the bracket that holds the motor used Torx head screws, and I didn't bring my Torx bits. Oh well, it's thin steel and I had nippers. Now when I install it I have any part I'd possibly need.
The best part? I handed over three $20's and got change back...

Tigard U-Pull-It has one e28, an '86 535i. Most of what I got came from an e30 325is, except the sunroof of course. I pulled the fuel rail and injectors out of the e28 then decided not to take them so they're in the trunk of the black e30. There's also an 80a alt in there, and the e30 ECU and an ICM of uncertain origin. There is a 3 wire ICV on the e28 that looks OK. The AFM, ECU and ICM are gone from the e28. The 80a alt is still on the e28, if it's still there when I go back I'll grab that and the mount so I can put it on my e12. Actually the mount is what I want most, I have an 80a alt in the garage.
Wow, TLA madness...

I went to the Tigard U-Pull-It today, and was very suprised at the low prices. I ended up only taking an M20 valve cover, for $5. I saw the parts that were left in the E30 trunk, hoping to find the ECU and compare it to my list of 1.3 motronic units. I also saw 325i exhaust manifolds and a harmonic balancer in the trunk. I was going to get them, but I am debating whether I want to buy a complete parts engine from my mechanic, or forage for the parts I need for my e to i swap. When I got to the counter, and realized how cheap things were, I kind of regretted it. I worked on a 3 series power antenna for a while, but couldnt get the nut holding it to the fender unstuck, as it was frozen with corrosion, and i had no more suitable a tool than needle nose pliers, a mallet, and a screwdriver. Decided to pass on it considering I am not sure if it would even work. Tons of cruise control brains out there!
