couple 524td videos from 1/4mile

my friend car, engine is mildly modified

big "chinacooler", littlebit modified dieselpump, holset 3fd from 70s tracktor with 1.5bar boost, special exhaustmanifold. bigger electric fan.
3.5" straitpipe, sachs race clutch (228mm).

engine is littlebit powerless in some areas, whe had big troubles with engine adjusments. (engine was in parts couple hours before show)

but it worked quite nicely. little bit trim and it goes faster.

exhaustpressure was lower than boost, that was very nice
and engine wasnt overheating anymore.

vids.

What is the area of the turbine exducer on that turbo? Exhaust backpressure lower than the boost is excellent. How did you measure that?

turbine exducer is 65mm. with small chamber a/r text is removed so whe dont know that.

but problem in that type charger is very old and compressor wheel is poor and it will surge too early.

compressor wheel is 55mm

pressure was taken from exhaustmanifold with normal airpressure gauge.

in my own car there is a exhaust temperature gauge too.

my friend said that my diesel sounds like a cummins :D

here is the vid... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS3IYvYnuTQ

Fuck!

Oil leak from head gasket.

this is just irritating

it is mystery what is wrong...

head is machined, bolts are new, gasket is new and gemented with vht gasket gement.

and all work is done by the book tactic

and me and my friend are both educated car mecanicals.

this is weird...this is not first gasket what i had changed.

Oil leak was from valve cover...and was very hard to find....it was hard to see it for bare eye because oil was so clean.

So i went to dyno...

for the inspection 85.5kw

and allmost all 140.5kw @4900rpm 289.7nm @ 4600rpm

and stock ip

there is stock underboost controller and nothing touched in the pump.. only timing and screwed

imo. torque is quite lame

Dear,

nice to see you bimmer is running. Good dyno results, they are close to my first results after my restart. at the first dyno measurement i have had also lost aproxximate 100Nm torque, which was caused by a pump failure. From what i have seen this should be near of the upper end with the stock injection pump for the m21 engine, what boost pressure have you run at the test?

I shedule to repiar my failed clutch in the next month and will then go ahead with 12mm plunger and camplate from a iveco pump. My goal is to find another 40hp to get 240hp, do you still shedule 300hp for you engine?

By the side for bimmer looks quite nice, i also love the "tractor" sound without muffler. I have drove my car over the last summer also with "straight pipe" exhaust and loves to floor it with open window. Best is, to stay with low rpm than it really sounds like 8ltr engine displacement and when it was pulled hard, it is likely to hear the turbo.

Good look and best Regards
Alleslowbuged

Best regards

at this time power goal is about 350hp but that engine is very heavily modified.

i just came to home from carage

now there is the 12mm rotorheadpump and i found that my 524TD goes nuts with that :D

allmost shitted to pants....that power is awesome :D

when is was taking 191hp from stock ip there was 1.9bar boost...it is too much but time was running out and i was thinking that makes maximum power.. so it was more easy to run with big boost.

now i have 2.0bar boost with 12mm rotorhead...
engine temperature stays under 90C
exhaust temperature stays under 700C
exhaust pressure stays same what the boost is.
i think this is big success from me

now i must buy a new waterhose...again OLD waterhose exploded.....im thinking how stupid i am when i use those

yes i can...not now but soon.

btw... mild engine exploded...

caused by wastegate malfunction boost was about 4bar and headgasket explodet out...

feels little bit stupid because that happened....so next time i will keep eye on gauge...

interesting thig is that my engine last for 15min before explosion...and water temperature was 85-90c so cooling works fine...

ext gas temperature was about 800c-900c

and base engine was stock..
;)

now im changin new gasket and ready to roll again...

at same time im working with super engine....

What new head gasket are you using? Anything special or just a stock gasket?

Stock...because i have one spare

mls gasket is good...but for this engine it is too expensive..

my friend 524td engine is now worked over one year with stock gasket.

power is about 200-250hp and boost 2bar

Fun with my friend car...(me driving)

1.6bar boost

i can reveal...this car is builded from junkyard/trash parts :D

turbo is now new...not anymore 3fd.. :D

now there is Garrett t04b/t04e hybrid...ofcourse turbo parts are from junkpile :D

so littlebit imagination and this you can get for cheap :)

So... i repaired my junkpile again.

cyliderhead was totally like a corkscrew caused by heat.

but now it is machined again and engine is running good.

there is one stupid thing to change....there is now fuel pump in tank to getting more fuel for ip but hoses are wrong...

pressure is going to re-circulatingline and leaking lot of fuel out.

I hate to make you repeat yourself DieselBoost, but can you go over the modifications you've made to your injection pump again?

I'm getting ready to look for parts to modify my injection pump (12mm head and rotor, 2.8 or 3.2mm cam plate, etc)

In my ip is cummins 12mm rotorhead.
but there is adjustments wich i cannot tell anything...because guy who made my ip cant tell me anything....secrets....he say.

but use stock cam plate... i use that too. there is only problems if you use steeper plate.

steeper plate fits nicely to low rpm engines like cummins.

just thinking if my ip cant produce fuel amoun what i need, then i will use mb 300tdt ip maded by mynädiesel with 7mm plungers.
