Whoa! Highly recommend 265s in the rear. I'd have to seriously abuse the clutch to get these suckers to spin! A few okay pics here: Eye Candy

Next up:
1) Hush exhaust. Eager to hear results. The resonance on my car at idle to about 2k is very annoying. Forget trying to roll down your window and talk to your neighbor. Highway cruise is okay, but step on it and the sound coming through the floorboard is pretty bad.
2) 3.15s diff. If all goes well I'll swap my 3.64s with a bimmerboard member in the next month or so.
3) PF Megasquirt system. If I stay on my best behavior, hopefully I can drop it off in VA beach in September on our way to NC.

I don't have a e34, but I extended my tailpipe
so it's flush with the bumper and
my head doesn't explode from all the "bwwwaaaaaaa" anymore.

I've fallowed my car after and it's way louder from outside instead of the other way around. :lol:

I just installed my newly rebuilt diff (drop from 3.64 to 3.15). What a difference! The car is quiet again like an e32 should be. The whine that had been driving me bonkers is completely gone. I see 2600rpm @ 80 and 3rd gear gets you to triple digits before my 6k fuel cut off. I'm going to have to start using cruise control more. You do not feel speed in this car. I haven't had a speeding ticket in more than five years and I just got a 61 in a 45 picking up the new owner of my e24 at the airport. Damn!

Next step is a trip to pftuning and a bump to 12psi.

Just a little follow up now that I've got some more time behind the wheel. The 3.15 is a great match for this car. Now that the ecu has had time to adapt, I’m seeing the CEL less the transition into boost is smoother than it ever was with the 3.64.

In 5th, I see 2psi at about 1900rpm. It was more like 2200 with the 3.64. The full 9 is there before 2500 and I risk losing my license soon thereafter.

I've picked up an additional 1-2psi in 1st and 2nd both, but still don’t reach the full 9psi. It comes in a couple hundred rpm sooner too.

I’m sure a proper MS tune (still running motronic piggyback) will make further improvements and I hope the addition of an electronic boost controller will help me reach a full 12psi in 1st and 2nd and hold it there. As it is, boost fades to 5psi or so as you approach 6k on the tach.

I also installed a set of M-sways and the car is now so stinkin’ stable at high speeds it’s frightening. If I manage to hold a constant 65-70mph on the highway, I think I'll see pretty good mpg numbers too.

Only problem I have now is that after letting the car sit for a couple weeks, it only speaks to me in German. As I was leaving my neighborhood, I had to stop and look up what "turr offen" meant. I think the car is beginning to feel at home with it's new internals and reverting to it's native tongue.

Verdict: 3.15 = big win!

I am glad you like the gear but something is goofy if you are not achieving full boost by 3500rpm and it doesn't hold to the rev limit. Still using a 745i WG?

Yes, and I'd guess that it's bleeding some. I hope that an electronic controller will help that.

4th and 5th see full boost well before 3500. 1st and 2nd don't reach full boost and never have. 3rd will reach nearly 9psi, but then drop down to 6 or so. Clearly there is a lot of power left to be had.

I know for a fact that it is not the motor this time. It pulls harder and more smoothly than ever before, even in NA conditions.

I think I made the situation sound worse than it really is, but considering the viewing angle of the boost gauge it's not too surprising.

2nd will climb to 8psi and fall to 6 by the time I shift. 3rd sees 9 and falls to 7psi. Besides the wastegate, any other suspect components?

It's the wastegate. You will be wise to beg Sweeney to build you a Tial that fits.

It's the wastegate. You will be wise to beg Sweeney to build you a Tial that fits.
I'd gladly make you and adapter that would mount the Tial 38 to the M106 manifold.

Just $$ for material. My new machinist really hates doing prototypes for personal stuff (just ask Paul). I could always design it and give you the file. If I had the car for a weekend, I could make you a kick ass 304 SS down pipe and dump tube to go with your shiny new Tial adapter but I doubt that's feasible because of the distance.
