Is there anyway to limit the number of non-affiliated vehicles for sale posts? Geez ........ :bawl:

Pet peev of mine as well. I really wish people would only post things that they have for sale instead of every e28 that they see on craigslist and ebay.

If you're not involved in selling it, why are you posting it for sale?

Yeah guess you guys have a point. I'm guilty of it myself. Perhaps it's best if folks only post n/a stuff if it's a smoking deal?

I think you should only post something "NA" if it's interesting or uncommon. That's what I try to do. You could really screw someone who is about to get a good deal by posting a link to ebay.

One other forum I'm on prohibits posting anything about auctions before they're over and you can't post anything from c'list unless it's an odd ball item.

I only share stuff like that if it's an E28 or some other old BMW that's cool or worth saving (yes, even a clean 528e). Everyone has a different perception of "cool or worth saving" though. Not all of these cars are in enthusiast hands and there are enough people looking for them (or that already own them and want to build the fleet) that I think it's worth sharing a car with the board if it's outside our little community and might otherwise go unnoticed. There is a point of saturation, though, and it's different for everyone.

Guilty as charged. I'll cut it out. But seriously guys look at the Norfolk list every once in a while. Smokin deals all the time.

Lots of forums have a dedicated thread in their FS section for CL/NA auction finds. It might be worthwhile to have a beamter start one and sticky it.

Perhaps another approach?

Hi all...

This is an interesting thread, and I have often wondered why our For Sale area seems to be a big free-for-all. I empathize with the dislike of so many "NA" posts.

My pet peeve is that there is often so little E28 content in that section of the forums.

So my suggestion is: why don't we at the very least separate out the E28 content from the non-E28 content? There could be a separate "For Sale - Cars (non-E28)" and anyone interested in all the crap that gets posted that has nothing to do with E28s can spew forth their drooling saliva on that portion of the site! And the rest of us can just stick to E28s... :)

I don't think this needs to apply to "For Sale or Wanted - Parts". That, albeit imperfect, works well enough for now...

Just my 2 cents,
.steve.
