Man, I just bought transmission mounts from the dealer who happened to have them in stock. They had 2 sets that were a little different (black and green both with 8mm studs) so I bought both sets planning to return the ones that did not fit. Jack the car, get all dirty, get the old ones out, and guess what? Neither part number is correct. I have the 10mm stud.

Damn!!!

It's a good idea to get the ETK so you can check the part numbers yourself. I can't count the number of times a parts house has fucked up my order.

Pardon my ignorance but, is the ETK a parts catalogue CD?
Is realoem.com = ETK? And, is realoem.com a reliable source for part # information?

I have really enjoyed looking there to see how stuff fits together and where bolts are the like, but I have not really used it as much for part #s.
That is until today of course.

The ETK is BMWs parts catalog software. Real OEM. com replicates the function of the parts catalog on the ETK perfectly as far as I have compared the two. Its benefits include no installation requirement, so you can use it from any PC you want. It might not have every single part available as the ETK will, but its sure to have all the more consumable, in-demand items.

23 71 1 175 939 Black mount with 8mm stud
23 71 1 130 400 Green mount with 8mm stud

Already talked to Haygood about these:
Needed 2 pieces part#:
23 71 1 175 732 Black mount with 10mm stud

Bavarian auto calls out 23 71 1 175 732 for stamped steel cross member and the picture matches, but in my case I have the aluminum cross member.

Realoem calls out 400 and 939 for one configuration and 732 for the other cross member.

Yep, 265 tranny with the single bolt mount aluminum crossmember uses the 10mm angled stud mount #....732. Had the same experience!

The 130 400's are used on my '90 325i, dual mounts at rear of transmission, Getrag 265/5 tranny, stamped cross member, I think I have a set of these for my 535is as well, I'd better check the cross member, eh?

Yes, I would suggest checking the cross member and the diameter of the transmission mount studs. The diameter of the studs are visible from under the car and they are equal on both the top and bottom of the mounts in the 3 part #s I have seen. The 732 mount has the 10mm stud (which has a nut that uses a 17mm socket). The part # is on the vertical side of the mount molded into the rubber (facing the front or back bumper) and probably could be read if you clean the grime off with a rag without necessarily removing the trans mount from the vehicle. So, you can get under your car with a rag to clean the side of the trans mount, you could probably see part #.
