What did you do to your E28 today?
Took that sucker for a drive!
That new clutch works as easy as you please, and with the new ICM & ICV, she idles rock-solid at 750 rpm. The thing that makes my wife happiest, not a drop of oil under the thing after sitting in the driveway for two days!
Still need to tidy a few things up, and figure out a decent method of bypassing the ignition starter switch (temporarily until I can get a replacement) but it's pretty close to being back in daily driver condition.

I looked at it longingly in the garage as I mounted up my commuter bike for my 11 mile pedal to work. It was a nice morning ride, however, the rain returned to Oregon with a vengenace this afternoon. On the way home, I looked at my cycling shoes and when I pushed down on the pedals water squished out of the vents on my shoes. However, this is my fitness program so I can continue to drink beer and smoke cigars!
I sat in mine on Friday and remembered the wonderful hugging feel of the sport seat. looked around the car, thought about how neat it would be to drive again, wondered how the dash got so damn dusty, felt a little embarrassed that I am not putting more effort into getting the car going. Then I think about how things are going to get tougher with school as time goes on and how I will not have time for anything. It makes me a little sad. I wonder if I should fail another turbo project and get to parting it out.

Holy shit did it ever! What a nightmare drive home! Nearly hit the median barrier while hydroplaning on I-5 going home this evening.jwhiii wrote: however, the rain returned to Oregon with a vengenace this afternoon.
Replaced front sway bar bracket that had fallen off somewhere a few days ago. No more sway bar clunking on the frame rail.
And a biggie....installed the new cruise control bowden cable. It is awesome to have cruise control. Cable was snapped when I got the car.

They are custom by a local upholstery shop. All seats were about $1,700.00 w/ two tone Napa leather. (OEM E28 M5 seats.....because that's what my car is)

I'll bet one could dye their seats in this configuration for a WHOLE lot less money.M5ZEALOT wrote:I really like those seats! Were those custom upholstery or did you buy them off someone? How much were they?

Finally gave in and swapped the factory cassette. Of course it is packed and stored in case I want to put back to original.
Went with an alpine media player that controls my iPod in the glove compartment, has an XM tuner and Bluetooth phone.
Ok, so it does more than a new 5er does but doesn't look like a Buick on the outside.

I got the grin factor hustling to the plumbing store in B6 II. It likes the wires from BB Shiftless, that I had swapped out , whilst chasing its elusive hesitation issue. I drove back, had a bite, then drove a mile down the street and picked up an 8' length of baseboard. I reclined the psgr''s comfort and got the entire piece inside the cabin.

After 7 years in the garage...3 weeks ago....issues had to be faced right away.....
New rubber---brakes....running great....
Other issues were sure to follow....
Fuel delivery problem...stalling...junk under the trunk...new fuel filter...
More issues were to be expected....blew top hose....replaced all hoses/belts/thermostat after the tow ride....the new fuel filter was already nasty...new one put in...
Today PayPal'd for a very nice used rear seat...can't wait...will have to dye from Llama to PB...
Sure there's more to come..looking forward to being a very good 5'er to my 528e...
Will keep you posted....hopefully not daily???
