Squirrel in the engine bay, varnish in the fuel lines, mice poop everywhere, mice in the glove box (until I parked the car in the sun with the windows up, muhahah!), owners manual, tape deck cleaner, and worn out TRXs. Also found VW keys under the seat. I kept them to try in a Scirocco.

When I bought my '86 535i in '92, it had a wired-in cellular phone, with the antenna on the rear window and the amp/transponder screwed onto the taillight cover trim (which had warped due to the weight), and a 1.5" hole in the rear bulkhead so the phone connector and 3/8" cord could run to the base set on the rear floor.

I bought the car near Seattle and found multiple business cards for a Los Angeles-area lawyer, so I assume the previous owner was a lawyer who was among the hordes of Californians invading Washington State around then.

It also had a "Vanillaroma" leaf-style air freshener in the trunk to cover up the mold smell caused by water leakage from a bad taillight gasket.

A broken after market CD changer which used an FM modulator in the glove box mounted below the ECU.

At least it had the factory Alpine radio which no longer picks up any sort of radio transmissions.

I don't have any pictures of it, but mine came with: cigarette ashes all in the carpet, flip flops in the trunk, rope in the trunk, used flyers in the for a remodeling company, and a lot of other nasty things in the trunk. I did however, get all the original books and other original things.

The M535i came with an application to be an assistant manager at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store and Too Short - Get In Where You Fit In on cassette in the glovebox.

My friend Kyle's '85 535i came with a resin encrusted bowl from a glass pipe in the glovebox and more than 50 pens scattered throughout the car. He counted them.

After racking my brain for a while...

... and unused aftermarket thermostat still in the box in the glove compartment. And the car didn't even need it. That's it. That's all I have on this one. I don't even remember finding a penny or a pen.

Set of ugly wheels on the car, original owner's manual with one of the PO's insurance and registration cards (Don and Amy Mattingly). Rest was very clean.

I bought my 1986 E28 in 2007. It came with all the car tax discs going back to 1992 and a service history going back to the day it was bought. The service book had not been stamped regulary but the each owner kept a hand written record stapled in side the service book. I have kept this up. As it was a car bought from a dealer it has nice and clean when I picked it up.

My 533i came with a bunch of pictures of the previous owner and lots of bubble gum wrappers. I cherish the pictures of her with her horse wearing a halter top.

All sorts of random shit. Haha.

In the glove box, there were maps of Corvallis, Oregon, some spare relays, fuses and random written on papers, that had nothing to do with me whatsoever.

In the back seat, there were a binder of wiring diagrams that the PO had made up, as he previously re-wired the fuse box and another binder full of receipts from 2005 (when I'm assuming that he thought it would be a good idea to service the car ) including a Bosal muffler, Pirelli Pzero Nero tires and tons of little parts. Also has a bunch of DIY instructions for repairs and such. Also came with the Bentley manual!

Cleaning out the car, didn't really find much under the seats. Guy was pretty dirty though. I don't think he EVER washed the steering wheel (or anything else interior related, for that matter.) It was brown. Eew. Under the rear seat, I found all sorts of stuff-- playing cards, wrappers, food, etc. I'm assuming either a small monkey or a kid sat back there. Pretty gross.

Also came with a set of 16" BBS RA's, but no spare however. Dirty and all evenly curbed :(

my 86 m535i , was a real barn find .
full of rubbish , tapes , dog hair , fishing reals ,paint roller and tray , beer bottles ,owners manuals ,
the guy must have been using the boot for mixing concreate in .the spare wheel well was full of concreate
bald square trx metrics , was a bumpy ride home for part of the way .
it was a non runner due to the ecu being fried on a 24volt jump pack . i took a spare ecu with me got it running , but the guy was in a hurry (he had to go to the airport ) so he didn't have time to empty the car out .

Ants. 2 months later they are finally turning up less. In the beginning I would see them every day, and they are getting fewer in numbers, but I see one most every day.
Can't figure out what they are surviving on and I don't want to know. This car has been driven daily for a long time so it isn't like it was in storage...

my second eta came with a note pad, a mangled Bentley manual, a spare fuel filter, a pair of blizzaks on bottlecaps, some hash in the ashtray, two condoms and the lyrics "Love will keep us together" written on the headliner.

my 533 came with a baby stroller, an old pot, a prince cassette and an alpine alarm system.

My '81 633csi was mint when I bought it with the exception of two tacky, expired AAA stickers (import from AZ).

My '87 528e was quite clean - interior was in very good shape. Some oddities included:

- Approx. a small order of prehistoric fries caught up between the seats and floor

- A Bentley manual which might remind one of an abused copy of Penthouse or Hustler magazine (from the 80s... ;) ); has since been mulched and fed back to the system... found under the back seat no less.

- Missing entire trunk carpeting... but came with two empty cardboard trays that normally hold 12x 1 liter of oil. But the car doesn't run through oil badly at all.

Raised a few questions marks,...

I knew this would cause confusion among you "purists".
How this fights its way into your brains when the words "halter top" and "girl" are involved needs a case study.
I couldn't tell you what the horse was wearing. . .although it did have a purty mouth.
