Hell no, you'll be in good company, I'll be there in one of mine, remember?

We'll have a group drive, over and back, led by our own personal H-town area "Road Monkey".
He'll be posting details of meet-up locations in the not too distant future.
It won't be a straight shot up 290, we like to :haul: too much for that.

I forgot to add, on our road trips 'passing' is allowed. ;)

Dude, you should've bought my car... it ran perfect!
JK...sorta!

You need to make it, you wont regret it!
I really wanted your car, and I tried to talk myself into it, but bottom line is I just suck at body work and hate paying somebody else to do it just as much. Mechanical problems on the other hand, I actually enjoy. It's just proving to be difficult when the car is 4.5 hours away from where I live!

So, the 5 won't be able to make it, but I'm thinking about driving the e46 up to take some pictures ;)

You'll definitely fit in. The website hasn't been updated with pics in a year and only shows pics from the first event. The local Bently/Aston Martin/Lotus dealer sponsors the event and always shows up with beautiful brand new cars that are for sale but the overall mix of cars is great. It's just an event for people who like all kinds of cars. I'm always amazed by how many people I see taking pictures of my E28 when there's a new lambo 20ft away.

Route Map from Montgomery

Post by funfunfer »

Route Map is here
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 315369&z=9
We need to get started early in order to get to Leander in time to grab some good parking.
7:30AM Depart McDonalds in Montgomery. (Why, you ask, start in Montgomery? That's a good question.)
8:00AM Join late arrivals at HiHo (Hwy 6 & 105)
follow historic Spanish colonial trail
~ 9:15AM Join Hwy 290 group in Burton (intersection of FM 390 and 2697)
~10:30AM Arrive Leander.

Warning: No pre-run of this route, so adjustments might be required if the maps are inaccurate.

Bring FSR radios if you have them.
Shoot me a PM if you want to be included on the cell phone list and if you want to receive the list.
Stay out of Sherman's way if it's wet. :haul:

Just realized this is superbowl sunday... Might have to head back to Houston after the show. Probably a good idea to meet all the people showing up my house to watch the game...

 Good job Jimbo! Thanks...

We need to try to beat that 10:30 arrival time, so punctual meet ups and departures are a must.

I'll be meeting you guys in Burton, since I'm right off 290 in Cypress.
7:45 AM departure time form the HEB parking lot, Barker Cypress @ 290.
See you in Burton...

PM sent for cell phone list.

Sherman and I have decided we will have a "Car Show" of our own. We plan on having an alloted time slot, in which we all judge all cars in attendance [bimmers, of course], prizes will be awarded in each category.
Judging Categories:
-Best Paint
-Best interior
-Best All-Original
-Besr Beater
-Best 5er
-Best Stance
-Best In Show

Just to make it a bit more interesting, this little scale beauty will be awarded to the Best In Show bimmer in attendance.

Roughly a week left to get our rides ready, so make it count!

Maybe you can have one for "The Dirtiest Car" kind of an anti-establishment thing?

It helps to know somebody, if you want a special awards category added. ;)

Tell you what "Mr. Longest Distance Driven", breakfast will be on me! :D
Better hope Eric doesn't decide to come.

Eric just recently hinted his mortality by admitting he could not attend two long distance event simultaneously. IE: 5erWest and 5erFest which are a mere 2k plus miles apart. This means I have a shot a gaining one event on his staggering record!

Be forewarned I do love my breakfasts.

Man, you guys are needy!

No "dirty car award" on my watch! :tsk:

As for any other categories you may want to "create" to have a chance at wining, we are always open to suggestions when planning these things.

We mainly do it for the commaradery (check spelling) and for the driving pleasure :haul:

Well the weather should be nice! It's 18 right now and we're supposed to get snow on Thursday and Friday but it's going to get back up to near 70 on Sunday.

I'm excited to see the turnout!

So after much "negotiation" with my gf about heading to Austin and leaving her home to setup for our superbowl party, I'm now on the shitlist :argue:

Looks like I'm going to miss this one... my e28 is sulking in the garage as we speak

Wow!!!
What a great day, especially for H-town attendees,
which included Randy, who came all the way from Gainesville, FL to join us.
We started as two groups then met halfway and finished the drive in together.
But before the halfway meeting point a local law enforcement official was encountered by the northern group
and the rest of us witnessed a blown head gasket on the turbo'ed E30
as he was accelerating past our 2 E28 ///M5s that were doing 125 in a 65.
Then as a large group,
missed a turn or two,
got caught by a train (a great unplanned photo op),
being slowed just a bit by a weakly performing fuel pump in "Mickey Mouse",
another local law enforcement official encounter,
we finally arrived about a 1 1/2 hours later than expected,
which got me out of buying Randy's breakfast. ;)
After meeting some new cars and drivers from the local market and reuniting with a couple of the regulars,
we were on the road, Lime Creek Road that is, to enjoy a long awaited meal, since missing breakfast.
Lunch was at Uncle Billy's Brew and Que. Excellent choice Wyatt.
We sent Randy home from here as he had quite a ways to go, "Be Safe and Thanks for gracing us with your presence".
Speaking of Randy in his Florida registered Bronzit, which was drooled all over by Nathan,
we had in our small group
not only a Florida tagged car,
but also one with a Kentucky tag,
another appearing to be from Illinois,
and yet another with a Michigan plate.
(Only Randy was really from out of state) Bunch of Crimiinals...
Then it was off to the State Capital's shadow for our Shine-n-Show part of the event and some more group pics.
We voted, tallied, and presented certificates and prizes according to those results,
and then headed for home opting for the direct 290 east route.
After getting home, the tow dolly was hooked up to the draggin' wagon
and it was off to retrieve the turbo'ed E30 we'd left in Chappell Hill. Damn that little car was fast.
I'm sure I've forgotten something, I'm still a bit exhausted, somebody help...

A special thanks to all those who helped promote, plan and participate in such a great memory, (The best Super Bowl party I've ever attended).

Because :pics!: , you guys get you asses in gear and get 'm posted.
