Command-trac (aka part time 4wd) has the effect of a locked center diff at all times. It might or might not have manual hubs depending on vintage (YJ and later don't have them). There's actually no center differential on that system, just the transfer case. If it's in 4wd (hi or low), both driveshafts are locked together and spinning at the same speed at all times.

I know very little about the Jeep AWD (Selec-Trac) systems.

That's a good listing of all the various Jeep drive systems and what they came on.

OK; gotcha'. Mine is Selec-Trac:

2WD (open rear diff; great for wild spinning donuts, but little else)
4WD (diffs locked; they call it "Part Time")
AWD (open diffs; they call it "Full Time")
Neutral
4WD Low (diffs locked; low range)

That might be the Quadra-Trac system. That's a whole lotta options!

Actually, it's equivalent to a 'manual' shifter. The Q-Tracs came with Limiteds and V8s. Mine is the lowly Laredo 4.0.

You say that like I could've stopped it. I am occasionally good at recognizing my limits.

In the spirit of :hijack: ....

I sometimes drove a 90's Jeep Cherokee at NBC4 in Columbus, and that 4.0L I6 engine was incredible! I loved flying around C-bus in those things, I just wish they had anti-lock brakes. Slid all over in the winter. And when you're used to having anti-locks on everything else, that takes some adjustment.

P.S. Glad you're all fixed up and ready to go!
