Well, I guess I asked for that. A couple of responses:

The search over Google with xxx and mye28.com was a brilliant one, and one that stupidly, never occurred to me!

On the other hand, there were a number of smart sounding suggestions for this particular search, including the Google search, that while they did reduce the number of terms that the search produced, not one of those terms answered the particular question: What plugs to use: stock, or modern? I am left with two possible conclusions: 1. All y'all ain't never talked about it, or 2. the thread is labeled in such a way as to render it un-findable. Google rendered some semi-useful food for thought on other boards, but nothing very helpful to someone actually wanting to go out and buy a set of plugs.

The Bentley manual has a plug type, but what I was looking for was some of that famous knowledge base of who used what when and how they worked out.

While flattered that you think that I am up to the task of writing a FAQ on plugs, I don't think the experience of one person using a very limited variety of plug types would be of much use to anyone, and perhaps most important to me, a waste of a lot of money, when, after all, I just want to change my plugs rather than do exhaustive research on the topic.

We just thought that since the information you're seeking is nowhere to be found here, that you should go harness the power of the Internet and find the people that have the right answers (after all, you're going to have to do that anyway to put the right plugs in your car). Then, you can report back with your enlightened findings to us cuntry bumpkins, so we can then realize how we need to change.

I don't think we were suggesting you needed to do long-term double-blind testing with five samples, having the motors take a survey as to how they feel with the different plugs. Then, using the result of the survey to write a report detailing the differences in mood, fuel consumption, power, and if a certain plug perhaps brings out some long-repressed Oedipal tendencies, or God-forbid a Freudian slip.

Seriously, when one has to find an answer, they usually find a lot of information that can really help others. Some folks have a desire to just take information. Others have a desire to find information, the reasonings behind it and then try to explain it to others for everyone's benefit.

I could have told you ten times by now which flicker corks to buy for your E28, but you won't say what motor you have, as it's a Euro, it makes a difference. While the Bentley is a fantastic resource for any E28 owner, it specifically covers the US-spec versions of the cars. The E28 was sold all across the globe in several different flavors. Many differences.
