You really don't need the light. You just need to know when its a good time to plug the scan tool into the plug- like when your mileage is low or if your engine isn't running well. It can be helpful though. But I will forewarn you that there were times when the CEL came on, but by the time I got the reader out the light was back off by itself and the ECU wasn't throwing any codes. Its not as reliable as an OBDI/II port.

Good luck!

True, but it's be nice to have that extra little indicator to be like, "Hey dummy!! (pokes in forehead) I'm not feeling well!"

This is why I'm investing in the VDO gauges. Just to keep a closer eye on the heart of my beast, lol. :rofl:

This year?
AFTER figuring out obscure symptoms, and:
replaced the leaky oil pressure sensor;
JBWelded the leaky oil level sensor;
replaced the rear fuel pump with an aftermarket;
replaced a sticky fuel pump relay;
replaced a sticky main relay;
replaced ALL the f'n relays and fuses;
replaced the blown out rear window;
replaced the sticky heater valve with a 3/4" elbow;
added a foam gasket to the trunk lid for when it rains;
after cleaning out the ICV valve and finding it was only a part of the problem;
added a hose clamp to the hose from the ICV because it leaked- but only sometimes;
after replacing the water pump, timing (and the other three) belts, I;
replaced the belts again (and the fan) after running over a 5gal black metal paint can at 5am;
I closed the hood after my oil and filters change today, and it felt "funny". I came back an hour later- and it won't open.
Tomorrow ... new cable vs hood pins. :?

Nothin' for a change. It passed its annual safety re-test this week.. So the used LCAs and the cobbled cat-back passed muster. Out of pocket expenses were about 10$ for exhaust bits.

Went to Pick-n-Pull for 2 screw so I could get the interior door handle mounted PROPERLY. Came back with like 10+ screw for various pieces that were missing and THIS:

The PO had a stupid Vinyl autozone shift boot. This looks 10x better. And it's in pretty decent shape, no holes/tears and almost all of the stitching is still intact. And all for $7!! Just needs a cleaning.

Moved him from the garage to the driveway and covered him again.

Hey slammin_e28- did you ever figure out if your B35 was throwing a code?

Yeah. Took it to work and hooked up the scan tool to it and no codes were found. I'm still kinda stumped, but I'm gonna take it to work and hit it with a laser thermometer.

To 'Snob', removed her rear HD Billies and stock springs.
Moved the Billie perch to the lowest position and cut one coil from the springs before reinstalling.

Realised it's been over 14 months since i've driven it. Hate when funding ruins a good project.

Sway bar links, differential mount and differential oil on the e28.

I also did the motor mounts, motor shocks, front struts, and a wheel bearing in my dad's W123 300d. The motor mounts/shocks certainly go on the list of shit I NEVER want to do again. 6mm allen bolts hold them to the chassis, one of which is directly under the turbo, another other of which is directly under the injection pump, both of which were rounded and over-tightened :facepalm:

X, I feel your pain. Instead of old Mercedes' I had Grand Wagoneers. and an XJ6 to wrangle with. I much prefer E 28s in general to wrench on. Once I got over the shock of tearing the rear cross member, etc. off the Jeep, It was liberating. I'm not gonna re-shuffle that effin 360 V8 into another body. It is a decent running old pig of a Rambler v8 .But I'm tired of working on them constantly. To keep it running a 1000 miles a year took twice as much time and money as the work I did on 2 Supah Ettas

I'm getting ready to do this as well and was wondering what your shop is charging? I was going to use a local guy that I've worked with before but I have no idea what to expect cost-wise.

Also, are you joining us on in San Diego on the 19th?

My guy is charging me $450.00 He's using metal and the minimal amount of bondo. He's taken the whole rear below the bumper down to the metal so it is being done properly.

As for the 19th, Count me in!!! I'm registered as Mike B

My car is/was until now very original with all original panels etc..; so it did pain me to modify her; but the truth is these e28's look so good with euros.

Put style 45's on with Bridgestone RTF's 205/55/16 and 20mm spacers on the front so they would fit.

Too late, I already installed a set of Style 5's that I had painted and ceramic coated.

pre-bumpers and pre lowering springs:

Shot over to Berkely (where the car is being borrowed), and swapped out a taillight, installed a rear shelf/blind (that won't retract :evil: ) and kind of cleaned out a sunroof drain.

*crossingfingers* tomorrow it'll get a smog, if the planets are aligned, my chi is flowing, and the chakras are doing whatever they're supposed to...

Ok, so here are some pics I took today. My skills with a camera are about as good as my skills at building rockets.

The valance is temporary, I'm waiting for a new one to arrive form Germany. This one came off of a euro e28 that currently resembles a taco.

Also, I need to go back and adjust the rear shock height as it is too high the way it is now.

Well, it was last night this past weekend, but ...

I managed to install a new intake below and intake elbow, coolant overflow tube, a vacuum line from the bellows to the collector, new exterior door handles and mechanisms (those were a b!tch), one interior door latch.

Both grilles were removed in favor of the not-cracked ones I ordered.

I found a mess of wires and plugs and sockets that I have no idea what they attach to ... sweet. I also noticed why the car rides like crap; one of the rear shocks is blown and there's shock oil all over the rear passenger wheel well. Hello Bilsteins!

The front spoiler is in the process of getting removed. Man ... is that a pain in the ass to remove.

I suspect tonight that I'll go about removing the truck gasket and prep it for putting in the new.
