My E28 M5 journey
My E28 M5 journey
Hi Guys, I bought Chris Graff's wonderful M5. In the following posts, I'll share my time as it's caretaker.
No photoshop on this comp, so this is straight off the point-n-shoot.

Thanks guys, I like no 2 as well, but the car is a bit crooked and it kind of bugs me in that pic.
Moose - I have a set of washers, but I think I like the front end without the clutter. They are neat when they work though!
wheels are 8 and 9, or 8.5 and 9.5... I forget! Tires are 235/35/18 conti DW's on all 4 corners.
Das - I agree, they are just a tiny bit big, but it looks good I think.
Black Steel - I tried to find some pictures of your car... It sounds like quite a kit, why no pictures???

They look very good - the wheels are spotless, did you have them refinished? The machined lip is the way to go on this car & the staggar is right on. Are they from a e39 or e38?S14 wrote:Thanks guys, I like no 2 as well, but the car is a bit crooked and it kind of bugs me in that pic.

Charles - Nice bit of kit you've collected! are your lower valance covers white too?
Cactus - I wish I could take credit for keeping them that clean! I bought them new from ECS, and they had about 6 miles on them when I took these photo's. I do have a order in with autogeek for some wheel wax, and some leather care to try to head off the hot texas summers.
Thanks again for the warm comments, I really do enjoy this car!

I have put one or two pictures up When I respray the car all will be revealed. I'm running 265/35/18's on my 9" rears & 225/40/18's on the 8" fronts. Just a tasteS14 wrote:Thanks guys, I like no 2 as well, but the car is a bit crooked and it kind of bugs me in that pic.

Forgot to say...The stance on your car is perfect. Not too low which makes it look almost factory hence cool
Nice Engine porn! here is my old S38B38 while I was in Germany:
I like the design of the B36 and B38 airbox better than the M88 and B35. I still have my old B38 airbox and trumpets, would it fit on the B35????
I do like the sound of the B35 over the B38 though... maybe it's just the greater amount of sound deadening in the E34 that took away from the awesome sound of these engines!

Very nice! Looks like the Z4 Carbon airbox as aposed to the S38 ones I have seen?S14 wrote:Nice Engine porn! here is my old S38B38 while I was in Germany:

The E34 has about 200kgs more sound deafening than an E28
I have had people pull over & wave me past...Think the sound scared them! I have a Racing Dynamics Carbon intake. Sounds vicious! My airbox works as BMW intended as well. The flap in it opens & closes as the revs rise & fall
B38 airbox on an M88 would be seriously cool especially if you used the B38 ECU to operate the flap in it's three stages! That would be seriously cool. Never seen that before!
