What did you do to your E28 today?

Where do I start.. In the last 2 days, using incorrect tools, and without assistance on the floor of my garage, I've:
Installed new clutch, pressure plate, center bearing, throw out bearing, lightened 528i flywheel, gearbox, tailshaft, exhaust, front sway and stabilizer, Hartge wheels and dropped it off jackstands for the first time in 9 months. Then, stuck into the engine bay, finished up the wiring harness, double checked c101 wiring, painted a few bits and pieces, installed the strut brace, new wiring harness firewall rubbers, new bonnet release cable, adjusted the bonnet catches, and installed bonnet. Then I got stuck into the interior. Installed the shifter, modified the reverse light switch wiring, leather fed the seats, dusted and detailed the rest with a cotton bud and rag, vacuumed, cleaned the door pulls from all the greasy hand prints, and custom routed the WAR chip USB cable into the glovebox to complete the instal.
I then installed the battery, replaced all the fuses and relays with new ones, and double checked all the electrical connections with a multimeter, and then once the battery was installed to find the only thing not checking out are the reverse lights, which i must admit, is a relief considering all the harness and connections in the car have been newly installed or modified.
Tomorrow she'll be filled with fluids, i'll remove the m20 bonnet insulation as it's not allowing the bonnet to shut with the m106 in there, install the electric fan, and start her up for the first time in one and a half years.
My back is killing me, my knuckles have no skin left, and i'm running out of hand cleaner but i'm damn satisfied and look forward to turning the key again.

If it goes well, over the next few days i'll get the throttle body space plate made up to supply vacuum to the brakes, and have the high pressure power steering line modified so I can safely drive the thing. Then it's off to Sydney and back to run the motor in.. Fingers and toes.

So, unless I did my search wrong, there are only 4 instances of the terms 'valve adjustment' in this thread. Am I missing something or are we neglecting this maintenance as a group?
The reason I bring it up is that I was thinking of doing it to Bandit before The Vintage, but can't figure out of its worth the trouble or not. It seems pretty easy and I might just start amassing the needed parts, which only consist of a feeler gauge and a new valve cover gasket. Probably all under $10.

Drove the snot out of it on the way to my nephew's wedding this afternoon, about a half-hour's drive away. Then it started bucking a bit on the way to the reception and died on me as I rolled into the parking lot. It started up again after the reception, but was bucking again; my son & I tried driving it home, and it made it two blocks. Wouldn't start again, so we had to walk back to catch a ride home. So there it sits until tomorrow when we drive out to drag it home.
I'm thinking fuel pump; anybody else have a guess?
I'll bring a spare main relay and some emery cloth along when we go to pick it up, just to see if I can get it going before bothering with the tow.

I steered it while my son did an admirable job of driving tug to drag the 528 home from where it died last night. Was too full of Easter ham & cheesy potatoes to do anything more.
Now I've got to take a razor blade to the stoopid orange sticker that Local Law Enforcement saw fit to affix to my window. I am glad he at least didn't stick it on the body or the mirror.

I'm waiting with baited breath to see what went wrong. I'm trying to have enough spare parts around for my trip to The Vintage and still have yet to decide if I want to drop $260 on a new spare fuel pump. Good luck!

Replaced ALL of the wear components in the front suspension:
All control arms
stabilizer links
stabilizer bushings
3 tie rods
steering arm
pitman arm
(torquing the control arm through-bolts on a lowered 535is sitting on 6" ramps is a BITCH!)
Today, new tires and align, tomorrow, enjoy!!
