For years my only car was an '86 535i. With my new job I have a 65 mile commute each way, so I figured I should get a second car.

So I got an '87 535is. It works for me.

Well, Da Red Kitty ('02 X-Type Sport 5-speed w/all the toys)
A-ha! That's why you haven't had many problems...it's a 5-speed! We used to have them coming in on tow trucks all the time...usually for a grenaded automatic transmission.

I've owned several of the cars on your list (and some of the other referenced by others that have responded). Hands down it would have to be the NSX (best all-around 2 real sports car I've ever owned). I have '93, and for what it is, it is the absolute "balls" to drive, road trip in, or just go cruzin'

Due to some thinking and incidents that happened today, i will be selling my car and i am going with and E-36. To be more specific a 1992 325is with a Rouge Engineering Short Shift Kit, ZKW Ellipsiods, Rouge Engineering DMS Cat-Back and other goodies. And it has only 60,000 some odd miles. I will either be selling my car as a whole or if I don't get the price i want, i will be parting out alot of stuff in the coming weeks. ~_~ I love the car but i can't do it anymore. Stuff you guys may see for sale in the next weeks may be:

Racing Dynamics Front Spoiler
B&B Tri-Flo Exhaust
TCD Cold-Air Intake
Possibly some interior goodies as well.

As always the board will get the first crack at anything and everything i sell. Thanks Guys

If it was to be a sedan and I was still here in NC, prolly an Audi S4 Quattro, if I had another AWD/4x4 to drive then an E39 M5 prolly......
If it wasn't my DD, and $$ was no object, then a Lamborghini (sp) of some type, if $$ did matter and I didn't need a sedan then another Widebody 911 mit 3.2L and SuperCharged......

I agree with Brad on this...E39 M5...IF i had that kinda money!!
BUT, since I've been recently bitten by the HP/TQ bug, this will be the next addition to my
stable: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timelin ... 914-45.jpg

Looks like my contact at FoMoCo is pushing it along the assembly line FAST.
Should have it by late March...same time as TC's vert?

I'd like to put together a 535 or 540 E34 Touring with a manual tranny for some stealthy cruising.

I'd really like a B5 A4/S4. The A4 is cheaper, the S4 has more "go". Manual only, of course.

My two top choices would be a 30v V6 A4 2.8, but without DBW throttle, or an S4. Black or Silver.

A4 2.8's can be had for under 10k now. S4s are in the teens if you're lucky. Either is an awesome all season car, and IMO it is the best looking audi ever made.. except maybe the D2 platform A8, post facelift.

I'm also really really after an E34 black on black 5 speed.. they look incredibly good... earlier years with thin kidney grills look better.. so probably a 535i or a USA spec M5.

Boring cars just aren't worth it.

You could hardly go wrong with a '98-'03 540i Sport sedan or even better a Touring. There's plenty of power and torque, good fuel mileage, enough toys to entertain you for years, solid, quiet, great handling.

If I get out of e28's there's little doubt in my mind that I'll buy one. :)

Wow, there are so many great choices out there...

I could go the "sports sedan" route...

-97/98 E36 M3
-97-99 E39 540i 6-speed

...The ridiculously fun-but-impractical route

-Any 6-cyl Z3 roadster
-99-up Mazda Miata sport package
-Porsche Boxter S

...The "reliable-my-dad-will-think-I'm-making-a-good-decision" route...

-99/'00 Honda Civic Si coupe
-96-'01 Acura Integra GSR
-96-98 E36 328i sedan

...Or the "Balls to the wall"/ "Money no object"/ "Blow my whole load" route...

-Ferrari 550 Maranello/575M Maranello/ 550 Barchetta
-Porsche 959/ Carerra GT

...But my 535i will have to suffice. For now.
