Adapters for e30 Sport seats into e28 - $70.00cad/seat

Post by Lee »

I have 20 sets of aluminum adapters to fit e30 Sport seats assemblies (seat and base) into your e28. Kit is a drop-in. All graded fasteners are included. The adapters are fully CNC machined with all proper chamfrains done, and will offset the seat inward by 14mm for a proper alignment with the steering wheel, and to close the gap with the transmission tunnel. 3mm and 6mm aluminum spacers are also included to make up for the carpet's thickness.

Intro price is $70.00cad per seat, or $130.00cad for a pair of seats, plus $20.00cad shipping for one or two sets.
Regular prie will be $85.00cad per kit.

Those look awesome, can't wait to see the E28 versions. Are those anodized or powder coat?

Anodized. Aluminum is the usual 6061-T6 hardness.
The shape is the same as the 2002 adapters as it has been a trademark for the past couple of years. I try to be consistent in design and production. Why reinvent the wheels each time?

Hi all

Sorry for being missing in action for the past 2 weeks. I switched to one of my other suppliers. It delayed the production of the adapters by another 10 days. They shall be available around May 23rd. Only 20 sets have been produced and I won't accept payments until they are in my hands to avoid any surprise.

I will still honor the advertized price even though production cost was "a bit" higher than expected as I had some small parts CNC machined instead of cheaper laser cut. ;-)

I have received several requests today, including from some people fearing to miss the boat as it is a small production of 20 sets (20 seats).

I will start a non-commital list. Just put your name on it with your order. One set. Two sets. if you change your mind, then no prejudice. Just opt out.

Parts are anodized black. One aluminum adapter rail and two aluminum shims on the outer side, two aluminum shims on the inner side. All 12.9 graded fasteners included. Seat will be offset by about 3/4" inward to better center with the steering wheel. Bolt-on guaranteed.

Two seats = $130.00cad
Shipping will be $25.00cad by air within the continental US
Paypal welcome

Copy and paste the list, add your name ;-)

I received the adapters this morning fresh from the CNC shop and brought them to the anodizing supplier. They shall be done by Wednesday. The finish is very nice. I will make the list of fasteners to order on Tuesday.

And here's an indication of prices for used seats. Being from eBay, they are on the high side though. Don't forget that there are plenty of such seats in scrapyards for dirt cheap.

Here they are with the final fasteners. They are 12.9 graded buttonhead. Pictures display a driverside set on which a complete e30 Sport seat can be bolted. I separated the sliders from the assembly only to display how the system works. ;-)

Very tall people may want to grind the knobs off the bottom of each sliders to reduce height by about 1/2".

This test run is only 20 sets, for 20 seats. Intro price is as mentionned previously. $70.00cad for one set or $130.00cad for two. Add $20.00cad for shipping for one or two sets (same shipping cost). Regular price will be $85.00cad per seat and no combo price.

Outer rail - door side

Inner rail - tunnel side
It bolts directly into the original mounting points. Simply use the aluminum spacers between the rail and the floorpan.

Yes. Got plenty in stock.

BTW, if you guys attend the 5er Fest and the Pittsburgh event, I will have a complete set (driver and passenger) to be drawn at each event. As a sponsor, I gave some free parts to each event to display and give away. ;-)

May I mention that the intro offer is now over (that was back in May). Price is $85.00 each or $150.00cad for a pair. $20.00cad shipping 4-days by USPS

Payment in Canadian currency only. Paypal is massivebrakes@gmail.com

Good to hear. I need to get serious about upgrading my stock seats to something sportier and more comfortable. I need to do some research, but will keep you posted. If you happen to have any suggestions, I am all ears... have an 85 535 with tan power seats. Would like to get something better.

Oups. I showed you pictures of the adapters for Recaro seats on e28 bases. ;-(

My suggestion is to look for nice e30 Sport seats. They are plenty.

If it helps your decision any, I recently bought a set of these from Lee and I must say that their quality is second to none. A fantastic set of hardware!

Here's the diagram depicting the simple assembly of the kit. As can be seen, the seat is offset toward the transmission tunnel (or away from the door) by 12mm (1/2"). Once installed, you will barely see the bracketry.

They really are very nice. I can't remember if it was WV_E28 or Nebraska_E28 that won the set from 5erFest, but they should be really happy campers.

Lee only sells these wholesale now (i.e., doing a bulk order). See this thread on Group Buy for them. We're almost there and once Lee gets back from vacation we should be able to get this going.
