I still have to get it looked over by the insurance adjuster who is paying for the damage
I will post pics later this week.
My car had never been hit or most likely no paint work, at all.
luckly for me I payed 6k for the car so they wont total it for 3000+ in repairs.
More later Simon

I hate to rain on your parade, but the insurance company doesn't care what you paid for the car when they consider whether or not to total it. They consider the value of the car. This is why people still owe 8-10k when they total the brand new car that they just bought two months ago w/o gap insurance. They're gonna go by the blue book and I don't think that's anywhere near the $6k you paid (but I could be wrong). I'm sure that the Dinan is not going to be mentioned in the blue book, so they're gonna get the wrong value. You can try to prove things out by getting board members to send copies of receipts from recent sales/purchases that they have made.
And of course, print the e-bay auction from that other thread to show the insurance company what it's worth!.

Right on Greg.Epps....I agree.
Simon,
You may want to contact the BMW CCA Ombudsman's office. BMW CCA has some folks who help club members prove the worth of their vehicles, particularly if they are limited production or tuner cars. This takes some work. You will have to make a case for your Dinan e28 as I'm guessing the typical insurance adjuster will not know how to valuate one. My neighbor and friend is an adjuster for Progressive. I'll ask him this weekend what you should do....sound good? Would this be helpful?
Cheers,
Tim
