been cleaning/waxing/checking/detailing the Z3, gonna leave tomorrow early in the morning and hope to be there by 4-5pm

I went through Port Huron around 2pm on Tuesday and there was some traffic, but not too bad. They were lined up around 6 deep at the toll booth ($3) and the Canadian border across the bridge. The whole process probably took 15-20 minutes.

As far as the speed limits, nobody really goes 100 kmh, but until you get into the cities, most seem to keep it under 120 kmh (we were going 110-115). You will see an occasional highway patrol car. As you get closer to Brantford, people seem to drive faster, around 115-125 kmh. In some spots we were around 130. Coming from Chicago, you should be used to the driving habits...

We're learning about the transit system here, you can take the GO train ($5.75) from Mississauga into Toronto and pay $10 for an all day pass in the city (subways, buses, trolley cars).

Don't forget to get some of that funny Canadian money. They do take credit cards but in terms of hard cash some places don't take US dollars. The rate right now is about $1 US dollar = 0.987 Canadian Dollar.

awesome! I do want to hit up Toronto.

Yeah, don't forget it's a work week, so there is rush hour traffic...

You definitely want to hit Yonge Street as well as the CN (not CNN) Tower. We also went to Toronto Island but it's better for families (Centreville is a kids park). We're going to Chinatown tomorrow.

Well if you are on the way or getting ready to head out to Tedfest. Have a safe trip and will see you on Friday at my Casa for the car wash,refreshments and pizza. I think I have everything in place for the weekend. If not then too bad.

Going to pick Shawn D and son up at Buffalo airport Thursday morning. Hope to be home by 3pm with a few stops on the way. Really looking forward to seeing everybody and a few new people from south of the boarder. Git ready for some Canadian hospitality and alot of good times.

Ted, too bad you were not able to put together a car/motorcycle washing station with the Maxbimmer ladies at the Bradley Museum on Saturday.

Oh well, maybe next year. It's the coin op for me, a garden hose will not provide the necessary pressure to thoroughly clean the GS.

Oh and BTW, I'm in room 307. Got the goody bag, looks great!

and PPS: I got sidetracked at the border and didn't even look for the duty free, so now I need to find a place that sells booze.

Seriously. It's gub'mint owned (or the government only gave out one license to sell, I don't recall the exact details). Regardless, they're all called the same thing, it's a monopoly. Ask at the hotel desk where the nearest one is. Be ready for some mild sticker shock, you'll never forget about duty free again!

Sometimes I do when it's something special or not available up there. Buying at Duty Free means no tax/duty/deposit. It's generally the least expensive option, and they nearly always have Moosehead and/or Kokanee.

I'll bring extra beer. What kind should I get? Spaten and Warsteiner get my top picks. Dos Equis is my fall back. Failing those, well, it all depends on what I find. I won't bring a very big cooler, it's either a huge one or a not so huge one. My trunk needs space for all the tools I'm bringing.

Bring whatever you want Cactus or stop in at the duty free shop and buy whatever you want at a much cheaper price. Ted

yeah bring whatever. Bring 2 cases of something decent. "import" beers like Coors, Budweiser, etc are acceptable LOL. Nothing too strong otherwise...you need to be here... We are talking overgrown zucchinis. I can't say any more online, I must protect my online image
