I'm riding an '86 528e. I was trying to join that BMW owners circle just for kicks. I put in my VIN from my insurance card, but the BMW site said "Your VIN does not match our database." I'm guessing a typo, since my car is also registered a 578e, bet you never seen one of those? So I'm wondering where on the car I check my VIN?
Thanks for the fast replies. I have no idea where they got that VIN they put on my insurance card, it is totally diffrent from the one on my card. Only the first 4 letters are the same. I didn't fill out the paperwork for my insuance, so I have no idea. Can anybody guess why?
Are you sure your insurance card isn't a state registration number? If it is supposed to be your VIN, you'd better get it fixed before you need to make a claim. Insurance companies love to deny claims for such things as, "Well, that's not the car we agreed to insure!" %)
FYI, VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number, so VIN is vehicle identification number number. Just like an Automated Teller Machine machine, etc... It doesn't bother me, but for some reason I seem to always notice when people say something like ATM machine.
Like when I use my PIN number?
