Possible "fire sale" of pot hole damaged 535isa in
Well, I gots no insurance coverage of this damage. I brought it to the stealer and for a new oil pan and motor mount support it is going to cost me $1700.00. Right now, with a wedding to plan, a M5 to resusitate a s14 2002 to finish, a 318i to keep going....I am over extended.
I am convinced the damage to this car can be easily fixed by replacing the oil pan and motor mount support. But if BMW is saying it will take 8 hours to put in a new oil pan, well-- I am out of weekends. Not sure at all about this but...
I am thinking of selling the car as is with the damage. It isn't a beauty queen, but has been solid transport for me for the last 20k miles. It is a 535isa black and black with 170k miles. Loads of new parts all within the last 20k. Big brakes, Bilstein hds, bavauto softsports ( I am keeping the euro rear shade and Mtech 2 small wheel). New tie rods, lcs, upper control arms with PG bushings. New dog bones. New bavarian autosport wires. All sensors on top of thermostat new. Freon recharged. Ok aftermarket stereo. I am keeping the rearview with map lights. New Programma DME. All new window seals, and sunroof seals. New battery cables. This is all off the top of my head...
Known problems - going to need a new diff mount and possibly center bearing. Idle not perfect, a little low. Transmission cooler lines corroded. Tach and econo gauge, lazy (remain off until car warms up then function fine). Anti-lock disconnected. Wind noise on drivers door. Clear coat is going on roof. A good number of dings. Some rust. Like I said, not a beauty, but solid transportation...
I can't mess around. If someone has a flatbed and wants to fix it up or take it for parts drop me an email at wrko@yahoo.com. I can't part it and it will need to be gone by this weekend. I can't leave it on the streets in DC, or at the dealer where it currently is.
I am very conflicted about this. But just don't have the time or the money for this anymore. !@#$

Drop me an email. Maybe we can figure something out. I am still trying to figure out what I want to ask for it. This is the big list of what I've repaired-- formatting is off, but general columns are
work parts from part ... I can email you the excel spredsheet I have on this thing. Heartbreaker.

If you already have over 4k invested, just pick pick up used oil pan and motor mount from someone for next to nothing. If I had one, I would send em to you for shipping cost alone (come-on guys.. someone's got to know a yard where you can source these cheap for the guy?!?!?!?!).
As for changing it out. Rent or borrow an engine host and use it to support the engine while you replace/repair what is needed. Yes, it will take a day but your much better off doing that than throwning the car away since you will not get back nearly what you have in it at this point.

I would love to fix the car, but here are the realities.
I live in DC. I would need to get the car towed back to on street parking (disabled M5 is in my parking spot) I won't be able to start it to move it for parking violations, I will get tickets. Or if I put in a sport where there is no parking restriction, the car will get broken into (not stolen, because it won't go- but my 318i has been broken nto there). I don't know any good people in DC who would let me borrow a driveway or parking space, because there are no good people in DC.
Then there is the personal stuff. Me and the finacceee have GOT to get going on planning. We have each weekend for the next 6 weekends planned and booked doing various wedding planning or family stuff. I gots no time. I gots no money. Its got to go.

post your selling price when you decide how much.
Although, no kidding, it should be a short afternoon of work. Jack the motor to raise it a bit, unbolt the old pan and drop it out (a cordless drill/driver helps here), clean the surface, check your oil pickup while in there, bolt in the new pan and gasket and lower the motor/tranny back onto new mount and old mount and bolt it up.
Sure that's simplified and you will certainly encounter stumbling blocks, but $-wise, .it shouldn't cost hardly anything.
Do you have a friend or family member with a driveway/garge you could do it in?
I know, your mind's made up but I just hate to see a guy lose a good running car for something like that.

By the way pictures of the damage are on Roadfly e28 gallery. I can't get to them, but they claim they are there.
add some pics of the car itself. That will help with the sell. Hate to see you do it. Their are several guys in Virginia who I am sure would help out if you could get it towed to their location.
