IIRC it was initiated by me suspecting I'd need a diaper for my oil pan after bottoming out. Funny thing is my tach was near redline while doing the posted speed limit.

It'd be interesting to see what extreme situations people incurred in final prepping their cars.
Well, everyone in attendance knows of my all night thrash to get my car ready for what lie ahead. Now that i have recovered from the lack of sleep, here goes...
I didnt't think it would take me that long to get thru the list of "to-do's" but, things always go as planned, right? :?

This is what my car looked like Friday evening

The list included finishing the header downpipes (extended to clear the firewall), exhaust midpipe, new O2Sensor, new sway bars, valve cover black wrinkle finish, strut mounts, and of course, the bumper delete (which is still unfinished).

Nontheless, I packed up and hit the road, without a wink of sleep, and made it to Blanco as promissed. And boy was I glad I did.

I didn't take too many pics, but here's a few favorites from what i did get.

Thanks again all, it was an absolute blast! I'm already looking forward to next year & hoping to bring a few more Huskers down from Nebraska. For anyone that didnt or couldnt make it, you missed out & I'd highly recommend making the trip. Drive time down there for me was around 15hrs due to a midwest flood detour I neglected to map out. Return time was just under 13hrs coming back home. On the KC turnpike I toyed around with a 2010 325i. He got the best of me but I'm thinking it's due to a failing fuelpump or some other weridness I have yet to figure out. We both ended up pulling over for gas & he was thinking something was wrong with his car since he couldnt lose me. I said maybe its due to a turbo under my hood. :alright: I must say the drive both days was exhilirating & I was finally able to push my car to the limit (literally). No blown headgasket, no mechanical failures. The only issue I ran into occured while riding Jose's arse when he 'thought' he'd pull away from me. I was coming into a corner damn hot & slid off the road a tad bit. Damn who put this mini boulder here? My part time e28 turned into full time rock crusher! It scraped everything from the front of the car to the back, ripping one side of the sway bar loose & flattening a tire on my t-star. Thats what they make full sized spares for right? Anyhow I can't recall everyones name but I'll definitely be in touch when I get back in town again. Or feel free to hit me up if you're ever in my neck of the woods!

Anyone got some non-incriminating video footage they can post?

Friday night we had dinner here:

I think we were all unknowingly being serenaded all night by this gentleman. He wasnt the greatest singer but he was entertaining!
Image

TexFest registration paperwork. I didnt read anything I signed but hope it didnt state in the fine print that I was transferring ownership of my e28 over to Sherman & a guy named Guido would be take delivery at midnight while I was good & drunk.
Image

Sweet ass 7!
Image

We saw about million of these guys!
Image

This was after an encounter with Johnny L. but but shortly before meeting his distant twin brother IIRC

This brief stop came...

Due to this...

My car wishing its exhaust tone sounded 1/2 as good as Memo's
Image

Where in the Hell did I put my car?
Image

Not sure why we didnt stay here.
Image

Hmm, looks like I have some competition in a cute little e30 package! Can he come out & play?
Image

This is hot!
Image

I suck at names but this young lady added spice to the event. Good to meet ya Todd!
Image

In Leakey we stopped for food. Not sure if this place had a name. Guess the locals just call it Restaurant. Hell, works for me.
Image

Mucho bikers across the street.
Image

Both of these cars screamed with a sweet exhaust tone! And they kept up with my turbo fairly well I guess despite that crappy gas they sell in Texas.
Image

I registered late & was only able to stay at the host hotel the first night. Very nice place & I'd definitely stay again! Now OTOH the second place below that I stayed at I'd have 2nd thoughts about that one big time. Definitely not the cleanest but it was cheap.
Swiss lodge. There were a few stains on the walls. I dont wanna know what it was from.

This one was classic & got few of us. You open the door & an alarm goes off!

Looks like Nebraska made it's way here before me!

The shirts were picked up and have now been delivered to those who didn't get theirs for one reason or another.

My final activity relating to this event is hopefully, finally coming to an end.
Took the defensive driving course over the weekend (a full 6 hours worth).
Should have the certificate tomorrow.
Also got the required copy of my driver license record from TXDot.
All that's left is dropping it in the mail box.

What's up LJ? ;) :haul:

Thanks for the report Nick.
