What would be the best size of rims to put on a 528 for looks, practicality, and style??

A hubcentric BMW wheel, 7x16 size, 20mm offset will offer you great handling, good looks, fairly large tire selection at moderate cost, and a very good ride.

Next best are probably one of the 17's, such as the popular BMW Style 5 Type II Composite. These look really good, but the tires cost more and the ride is a bit harsher.

The best size rim would be one that's the exact same size as the wheel it's mounted to.

. . .

. . .

:? What? Oh, you meant best size WHEELS.

If you want people to look atcha, go with 19s! If you want practicality, go with 15s. If you want style, well, that's a little subjective, but I think most people agree a nice, factory 17" wheel from an E39 will add greatly to your style points.

Do you think you could make your question even more subjective? %)

Does performance matter a whit?

Based on his other posts and his profile, I'm guessing not. :?

Lets see, "Looks, Practicality, and Style. Nope, don't see performance anywhere.

I have 15x7 rims and actually have had a bit of difficulty finding a tire size that I wanted with the speed rating that I wanted at the price that I was willing to pay. However I did finally settle on a tire and I am quite happy with things. And they look pretty good to me.

I live and drive in a city with lots of potholes so I am not really interested in going to a 16 or 17 wheel because I do not want to replace rims nor the harsher ride.

You've discovered the single major issue with 15 inch wheels, tire selection. You have a better selection of high performance tires with 16's, the ride really isn't much different than a 15 because the newer tires are quite sophisticated in their side wall design. ;)

Nothin wrong with style 5 (e28 M5's) if ya like that sorta wheel. The ride is good enough and tires are fairly inexpensive.

Oh yeah, Rick, I forgot that your 535is is wearing those wheels. Which tire is on it now? :?

Parenthetical expression : ( Rick's car is a very nice looking Diamond Swartz with M5 wheels) :D
