Awesome car! Fastest and quietest production diesel in 1986. Convert to Biodiesel, run on vegetable oil, or just diesel around like it is! Diesels are super simple to keep on the road if they are well maintained. This car runs great, starts every time, and has had lots of recent maintenance.

New parts: battery (big 900 CCA battery comes with an 8 year guarantee), timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, glow plugs, diesel filter. 16'' BBS style 5 wheels.

Power windows, power locks, power seats, power sunroof, EXTRA MOON ROOF!

1978 BMW 530i - project car. 6 cyl, auto. Engine has approx 70k miles, body has approx 200k. Engine ran good last time started. Needs battery now, and new gas. body needs painting as I had an inexpensive paint job done several years ago..I've installed the following: new radiator, new transmission line, new water pump, new interior fan blower (squirrel cage). I've removed the side lights and bumper ends for the paint job and need to put them back on.. Tires hold air, can be trailered.

This one doesn't sound like it's much to write home about except for the sad fact that e28s in Minnesota in any kind of shape are getting few and far between. The wheels look like they're off an e36 though; will they fit an e28 without spacers?

1987 BMW 535is 5-speed manual - $1850 (Plymouth)

Date: 2011-12-04, 12:50PM CST
Reply to: sale-nubhg-2735553114@craigslist.org

For sale is my 1987 BMW 535is. I have owned this car since 2003 and it had orginally come from the Carolinas.
The good:
This is fun car with Classic BMW styling.
M30 engine with a top end rebuild that included new timing chain guides in December 2007.
Head work was done by D&G motors.
Recent paint August 2011- not perfect, but a 9 from 10 feet :-)
Sport seats
Spoiler (added since picture was taken.)
Front air dam
Sunroof and tinted sunroof vent shield.
BMW on board computer (Tells MPG, Range, etc...)
BMW Check Control System.alerts you to light bulb status, low oil, low coolant, etc...
New stereo with ipod plug-in
New front rotors and pads.
Tires/Wheels
AC - works
A box of misc. spare parts.
Parts are readily available on the internet.

Maintenance in last two years:
Rebuild rear and front brake calipers
New CV joint boot and check bearing.
Coolant change.
New stabilizer links

The Bad:
Interior need a bit of cleaning.
High mileage approximately 280,000, but with the topend rebuilt, engine is solid.
Some rust at lower door edges
Clutch release bearing is getting noisy.
4th gear synchro is a bit slow.
Driver seat is well worn.
Dash cracks, as is common on this vintage. A dash cover would do nicely.

email jeff for more pics or call 612 - two two one - 8 5 2 0
$1850 OBO.

I almost texted the guy asking for a pic but then I asked myself if I would really buy the car. Unless it was really minty, no. Plus its an automatic. I still want something with an M30B35...

Yeah, but if you had a buck for every E3 at a CCA event, you'd have very little money.

If it were a stick shift I'd consider it but I really like to drive my cars and, having driven an E3, I feel that the E28s and E24s of the world are better drivers. Although the 3.0Si is mentioned on my short list it needs to be a stick.

Interesting take on M5 wheels!
There was an odd affliction that overcame certain BMW owners in the late '80s and early '90s which resulted in a desire for chromed wheels. When I acquired my Euro M5 it was riding on chromed Hartge Style-A wheels with exposed hubs painted black.

1986 BMW 528e, ~145k m in Superb Cond. w Intermittent Stalling Issue - $1000 (14th and Florida)

Reply to: sale-av8q5-2735252723@craigslist.org

I'm selling my 1986 BMW 528e, ~145k miles in superb condition that has an intermittent stalling issue. Gold exterior, black leather interior. The car is in phenomenal shape for its age. My grandfather purchased it in 1986 and it was given to me in the mid 90s. I've treated it like my baby ever since. Power seats (all movements work except the headrests). Absolutely no rust whatsoever. Never been smoked in and garaged its entire life. A pet was in it briefly during the mid-90s. Leather interior is worn but in good shape considering its age (no tears of any kind). The reason I'm selling it is that the car has an extremely intermittent stalling issue but it is serious when it occurs. The car will drive beautifully for 3 months and then stall at a light without notice. It can then be restarted but sometimes once it stalls, it keeps stalling. I've taken it into BMW Excluservice in Rockville, MD and Dan Martin's Auto Service and the problem has recurred (sometimes after 4 months of perfect driving). I'm selling because I've sunk too much money into trying to repair this and need to buy a new reliable car. But aside from this, the car is in about as good shape as a 1986 car can be in. Only other minor problems are the heating needs to be fixed and the electric door locks are a little finicky but they work fine. 2 or 3 years ago it was involved in a minor collision and the passenger and rear passenger doors were replaced. Absolutely no serious accidents of any kind over its life.

$1000 OBO.

Here's two eta's for someone

Both are automatic, and both run drive and ride pretty good with near perfect paint and clean Florida titles.
The Dolpin Grey is an 86 with black leather only 75,000 original miles and almost all 25 years of paper work, the radio needs programing the a/c still works and blows cool, not cold, needs a freon swap, new tires all around, I drive it everyday. $2,000
The gold 1 is an 85 needs a new drivers seat, it has new brakes and good tires all around, blaupunct stereo, the a/c works but has issue, elec.window's need help. $1,000
Please call only if you have the $$$$ or a reasonable swap. 518 207 5568

That was somewhat true at the first contact I had with the CCA in the Spring of 1972 at Lime Rock when I went with my dad to a race there and we were directed to the BMW corral. There were maybe 3 or 4 E3s there that day, and the crowds of CCA members around the cars was interesting to say the least. Somewhere I have some pictures of the corral that day, but I can't find them.

More E3s showed up in later years, but few were crazy fanatics (like me). I bought his Bav in 1980, won Best Bavaria award at the 1982 O'fest with it. :) I guess nobody had ever seen an E3 with all black trim before that time. :alright:

Has minimal rust on right front fender behind wheel well. Drivers seat needs new horsehair padding but vinyl is good. Tastefully modified w/ Momo steering wheel, B&G springs, Bilstein shocks, stainless steel brake lines. Selling w/ original alloys, but 16" 3-piece BBS-style rims w/ 225/50/16 Kumho AST's are available. Currently running "antique" tags since car needs high-beam switch and minor exhaust work to pass Virginia inspection. Just found out today: needs rear differential mounting bushing and metal repair to cracks at the rear pick-up point. Selling as-is. $1,150 OBO.

It looks like a clean car, one owner is a benefit IMO, and if it has all records, should be worth something close to that if it all checks out.
