Starter from South26
I bought a B35 starter (used) from South26.
After a shipping mishap (most likely not his fault - it took about a week to arrive as the tracking showed it "out for delivery" in OH when I live in VA) it arrived.
It was in pretty rough shape, but I could tell that from the pictures he sent. I figured I'd clean it up and have it bench tested just in case. When I had it bench tested, it would not turn.
He said that it "worked when removed from the car" but I have no idea when that was. It doesn't work now, so it was a waste of my money.
Buyer beware with used parts.

OK first, I am not sure how you can think the USPS sending a package to the wrong state is my fault. I did get confirmation on it so that it could be tracked, once it leaves my hands, not my faultMatthäus wrote:I bought a B35 starter (used) from South26.

Second I did bench test the part before it was shipped. And it worked. It was remove 2 months ago when I sold the engine. Also the starter did look dirty (IT IS A USED PART) It did not look beat up and the teeth looked fine, not sure what you wanted in a used starter.
Third you emailed me and told me that it did not work. I emailed back "Shit it worked when I took it off and when I got it tested. I sent that back assuming that you would email back asking for a refund, which I had no problem with. If you had taken the time to check I have a great record on here of selling parts. I have been selling for 3 or 4 years and I rarely have had to refund. But it does happen with used parts. So instead of putting it out here that it might be my fault that the USPS screws up and that used parts sometimes do not work email me and we can work this out.

In response to your points:
1. I said that the shipping issue was "most likely not [your] fault" because I can't see how it would be, but you did mention that a similar thing happened to you recently. My only suggestion would be to use a different carrier in the future if one has demonstrated a pattern of not taking your parts to the right place.
2. I acknowledged that I purchased the starter expecting to receive a USED PART (apparently we need to capitalize this since you think that the fact was lost on me) and I further acknowledged that I purchased it knowing that it was in rough shape from the pictures you sent prior to the sale.
3. I emailed you to let you know that it did not work. I did not request a refund because I didn't feel that I was entitled to one. I bought a used part from someone I didn't know on a message board. That's always a risk, and I lost out on this one. It is what it is. However, as a seller on a public forum, you are implicitly agreeing to public scrutiny of the transaction process. I appreciate that you have the right to respond here, just as you'll appreciate that I have the right not to privately request a refund at your demand.
You'll notice that I didn't post anything that was factually incorrect, nor did I offer any advice beyond "buyer beware with used parts." I think that is relatively good advice and I didn't attempt to disparage you or your track record as a seller on this website.
When I emailed you about the starter not working, I was simply informing you. If you were going to offer a refund, that was the opportune moment. I see that you're quick to demand that I email you about a refund now that this has been posted on the forum, but as I said, I'm not interested.
I posted a factual account of our transaction in the feedback thread. I didn't make any personal attacks, but it certainly seems that you've taken my post that way. Perhaps you should read it again.

I've been waiting for some sheet metal from Mike, trips2winracing, for over a month now and after assuring me that he would have shipped it out weeks ago I still have no shipping confirmation nor any updates.
Mike has told me he has some personal problems at the moment and I can totally sympathize with the situation but I would never commit to a deal when I'm not sure I can deliver the parts.
