Nothing goes under it. It's simply cut down a bit to allow you to remove said crank.

Actually, that was my first thought too, but he's asking about where the emergency crank resides in the toolkit.

I'd point you to the Toolkit FAQ in the Tech Talk section but it seems the images are hosted at a sucky place and bandwidth limits have been exceeded. Bummer.

As for my e28, it got moved off the street in anticipation of tomorrow's big snowstorm. Eight inches of snow expected with 25-40mph winds. Happy stinkin' New Year.
   Whoops! Lol. I feel like a dumbass now.

In other news, I removed the A/C compressor and PS pump from the B35, and removed them from the B34, but left 'em in the car. All that is holding me back is borrowing the neighbor's tractor, and the freezing Va temps.

Seafoamed Blackie. I put about 2/3 of the can into the fuel tank and then put in about 1/2 tank of fuel. The reamaining 1/3 I sucked into a vacuum line and then did the shutdown - hot soak.

Took it out about 15 minutes later and blew the crap out of her. Can't really say it's running better yet but she was running about perfect before, soo.....

Completed stage one of bringing B6 II after mkt radio up to Marina's standards . I took the main power off fuse 12 and ran it to the run powered auxillary fuse.

Helped a local member put together his new motor:

We'll put it in later.

Also picked up another set of titanium wheel studs I'm R&Ding. I've had a set on the M5 since September, now gonna put a set on the M535i.

Thanks Charles, should be a pretty hot motor. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Removed the original gear shift and put on a new leather (OEM) one. Unfortunately, the newer, more anatomic one, not the same shape as the original.

My friend has had a bunch of different fasteners made for various applications on e28s in titanium. Everything from halfshaft bolts (all 24 will save you 2 lbs) to guibo bolts, ucab to subframe bolts, strut knuckle to strut housing bolts, even crank hub and nut.

We're currently testing all this stuff and making sure it doesn't do anything funny. The studs and he also has standard lugs made titanium have the longest current time on the road.

He's looking for $225 for a set of studs, not sure on the pricing for anything else yet.

Yup, looks good.

One suggestion does come to mind though. I recommend the alt bracket be switched out for a later model. The single support just ain't got nothing over the later dually.

Finally removed the flywheel after locking the ring gear with the large red handled screwdriver. Custom routed the rear cooling gooseneck-heater valve hose over the valve cover and along the firewall as there was not enough room to replace the gooseneck to the e28 specific version. And finally, made a plug for the cooling outlet in the block which feeds cooling to the turbine, as it's not required at the moment. Now i'm drinking beers.

:D I was ready to set up a tent and sleep in there.
I have to get a new valve spring compressor to get the rest of the valves out (to replace the valve stem oil seals), then button up the super eta with the (i) head and I'll be ready to drop it in - after TONS of cleaning

Drove with the windows down and the sunroof open, with all the rain we were having I nearly forgot how great the m30 sounds with some healthy throttle input!

makes me miss my e30 eta with its rotted out muffler(sounded like a race car in the canyons, jk lol) and even happier that I sold my e36 ti(m44 = blegh...)

I bought my 535i a couple of months ago with a broken trunk release mechanism that wouldn't pop the trunk. In other words I've never seen the inside of my trunk  . I finally got around to removing the old mechanism/lock cylinder today. I cut the old cylinder out with a dremel and used a screw driver to pop the trunk. Then with the help of my friend we re-keyed the lock and installed a new release button. I was hoping to find something cool in the trunk but all there was was a TRX bottlecap spare. Anybody want it??
