Changed the OBC lightbar. Wow, that was an annoying and time consuming job! I had to do contortions to get the panel unscrewed and more to get the cables unhooked.

let a shop know that they owe me a new exhaust hanger for the defective one they installed, and finally realized how long this whole "remedial maintenance" thing is gonna take....yay for project daily drivers

Be lucky you weren't doing this chore on an E30 - much more involved. E28 one is cake!

Got bored of working on the e30, and cleaned the wheel wells/brake calipers and struts of the e28 with degreaser and a wire brush, and was pleasently surprised at how well they came up. Had no idea the original coating was silver under 25 years of road grime.

Here's the left side before (didnt get a photo of the right side before)

And here's the right side, after.

Much nicer ;)

Drove the 533 since my 4Runner is having key issues. First time it's really been driven since Shawn's WF in September!

Idles high, and has fat fuel leak right above the exhaust.

Fun as fawk to bomb around in tho, with ladder/conduit on the Thule rack! :alright: :alright:

Put the ///M5 on my insurance yesterday.
I'm hoping to get it inspected and registered later today, in preparation for this weekend's drive to Austin.

Wednesday night I replaced the passenger front door with a dent free one.

Last night 17x7.5 style 65's which I had refinished and fitted with 235/45's and 255/40's were installed.
Halogen shop lights made the driveway tolerable, even in 33° weather.
Hopefully weather will permit pics tomorrow.

Me too!

Last night I got a box of e28 love (and an e46 water pump) from DPP. This box included those dastardly, non-rubber, "Rubber Bushings" for the euro low beams, as well as two brandy-new euro high beams. (the ones I bought weren't cleaning up well :? )

I got the right side lights put on last night. Once you start unpacking a box like that, SOMETHING has to get put together.....

Got my 528i flywheel modified with a dowel pin for the Motronic bellhousing sensors. Now i just have to wait on a set of bellhousing, and pressure plate bolts and she can all go back together. Finally.

Fabricated the exhaust, did the upper control arms, bled the cooling system, then buried the tach needle at 5k and kept revving :D :D :D I'll be putting in the 7k tach plate and coding plug soon along with LCAs, still have some slight shimmies :(

OK, so this was last week, but whatev...
Replaced rear subframe monts with Powerflex Urethane stuff
Image
Image

Reinforced subframe support arms. I bent the crap out of the stamped steel flimsy OE stuff.
I used the mounting points and welded in a piece of rectangular tubing
Image

Replaced diff mount with NEW one from Brian (thanks Brian, very nice piece at a very nice price) and installed 3.46 LSD diff while I was at it.
Image

Repaired/reinforced rear shock towers. The shocks were pushed thru about 1/2" so, I took a slide-hammer with a home-made plate to flatten towers again, then I welded in a plate for reinforcement. Then, I welded in a Shock Tower Brace for added strenght
Image
Image
Image

Installed front KONI adjustable sway bar (the rear one didn't fit for some reason) :bawl:
And I welded up the broken exhaust flange on bank 2.

It feels like a completely new car.
Tomorrow I will be installing big brake kits front and rear, with Zimmerman rotors and Hawk Street Performance Pads.
more to come...

I want to see the INTERIOR!!

Let's go back 7 days...
I invited rojacob down to do euros, but first I had to move my beater out of the garage. She did NOT want to start. So we pushed her out and we spent about 10 minutes trying to get it to move under its' own power. No dice. Fuck it.
Did euros.
Today...
Invited ///Marine over for moral support while I fixed the brake issues. (no WONDER the car was $500!!!)
Put some gas in the car, and a CHARGED battery. She ran fine. Amazing.
Replaced a caliper with one that I could actually bleed. GTG.
Went to the other side and dremeled off the stuck hard line so I could replace that final soft line. GTG.

Two lessons learned today:
1) Brake fluid is NOT violently flammable. Keep the heat down, though.
and b) When you are frustrated and about to eff something up... WALK AWAY. Take a "brake". Come back later, and finish it.

Final note, I think I have an idea why my red e28 has been so... ummm immobile for the last 4 years. And that bitch is gonna run by the end of the month. You heard it here first.
