Back from the dead......
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/the-turns ... 24213.html
I don't care if he did it or not, that is funny.
Actually, I do care. If they didn't catch him cheating through their rigorous testing, spot checks, and whatever other protocol....then they screwed up. Tough shit, make your system better. He tested clean every time, you have no physical prove. Everyone here could swear Duke screwed a goat...and while it may be true....there is no prove.
Just a goat that walks funny and the offspring......

Do you still believe this?
The lying, scumbag, POS to go on Oprah to start his “please forgive me” campaign.
5 years in prison would be a good start.

So I am really bummed and must ask for forgiveness for any prior statement on this thread or others. I supported and believed in Lance, but he is no different than Madoff.
Send him to PRISON for fraud. I will forgive him, but he must suffer the penalties.
That is all.

How long?

Saw the commentary in the WSJ today and thought of this thread. C'est la vie, at least for pro cyclists.

Gee; where's Duke? I thought sure he'd be gloating up a storm about this deal by now.

No need too, you all know the deal now. Glad I could have been a help.

I don't know why t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ Duke is making such a big stink about this. You have to use drugs to win in that sport. Hell, you have to use drugs just to participate. It's not like Lance was the first, nor will he be the last.

Lance and I have one thing in common, neither of us has won a Tour de France.

He lied....If he would have said from day one, I would say your statement is spot on, but he lied and acted above everyone. Hell, the cyclist should have banded together with the sponsors and drug reps and said we win with this "xyz" drug or we do not cycle. No riders, no fans, no cycling. Hell. I am so fed up with sports, the money and the lack of character in general from all who profit from sport.
Duke was right.

Welcome to why I can't stand the FIA. At least rally and touring cars aren't really infected with the same crap.

It's disappointing, but no longer news by now. I do wonder if some, many, or all the top riders were using. If he was the exception who they wanted to get because he was an arrogant yank in their sport, or if it would have been cleaner if not for the likes of him raising the bar artificially.
Oh well, disappointing, but not a big deal to me.

I'd blame politics. Except I can't, because the French gave up their investigation. They stopped caring. It was the American sports drug organization that has been attacking Lance for the past few years. Why is it that Barry Bonds is in the baseball hall of fame, albeit with an asterisk shouldn't he be banned? I assure you, doping is the norm in endurance bike racing.
Whatever, at least the only drug my favorite cyclist has tested positive for is Cocaine.

Yeah, you're right. He's just listed in the record book (with the asterisk). Despite the drugs he did a lot for the sport.

Geez. You guys. What's next? Are you going pull awards from musicians for being "medicinally enhanced"? There would be less cowbell in our world.
I say let them do all they can. Only the strongest will survive. Hearts will be exploding like Duke's old head gaskets. Ratings will skyrocket.

The takeaway from the whole story is that pro cycling, for which the U.S. is not the majority audience, is maniacally concerned about the cleanliness of the athletes, and although there may be instances of crookedness, nobody is off-limits with regard to enforcement. Lance is a trigger-figure, particularly for a lot of U.S. fans, and lots of folks would have their pride defended to see him exonerated. In many other countries, including those of his major rivals during his fame-inducing wins, jail time is the result of upheld doping charges.
To restate: our popular press makes a big deal over the denied early settlement figures in comparison to how much a legal team might actually aim to extract. Elsewhere, the first item on the agenda would be imprisonment. It's a very different story here, in part of a very different sport. Although the sport may not seem unusual to others in how clean it is compared to those we celebrate most here in North America, since "cheats" have been caught, I do still think that it is comparatively clean, and it's certainly unusual in how clean the fan base actually wants it to be.
