Buyer bewareHad a bad transaction with 5timesturbo. Purchased a set of tail lights from him. He said he would ship the next day. Waited longer than I should (3 weeks). Contacted him again and he said he had to 're package my tail lights because a similar set he sold broke in shipping. I gave him 5 days after until I was convinced he wasn't going to send me anything. Opened a claim with PayPal.

Just a heads up!

I ordered a hood latch cable from him. I had to contact him multiple times. Took at least a month to ship...

I hate to put this out there, but I had/am currently having a bad transaction with TCD. He tells me at first not to worry about sending them back, then changes his mind. He then states that he will send me the refund via paypal last night, but I never received it. I PM'd him this morning and I did not receive a response (but I saw that he read it). After that I reached out to Paypal to start a dispute.

I bought a set of used Bavauto wires from him that were no good (caused misfires)

Here is the series of PMs (read from the bottom up)

You read my PM this morning, and did not respond. You were hostile first when I said I did not want to purchase another set of wires from you. If you would like to go back through the PMs please do. This is a business transaction and I expect you to handle it as such. As for the Paypal dispute, it is due to the item being damaged so proving proof of delivery doesn't help much.

I got back into town late last night. Not sure where your distrust emirates from. You clearly have no idea who I am and how I do business. Based on your silly behavior with PayPal I'll wait until I receive the wires back to issue a refund. Meantime I'll respond to PayPal appropriately with proof of deliver. Aggressive behavior like that just makes me not trust you. Good day.

Not a problem, I told you I would send them back.

I should have done this from the start, but looking through threads on this site it seems a lot of people have had misfire issues with them.

Ok I'll refund you tonight. But I will have you return them. Seems highly unlikely that all the wires are defective.

That really odd for all of them to be bad. No need to send them back.

Any interest in a brand new set of 8mm wires? It would be another $40.

A total of 38 hours passed from the time you first contacted me until you started a Paypal dispute. I communicated with you the entire time despite being involved in a huge family event.

I suggest you have more patience in the future. Irregardless, a refund with be promptly issued once the wires are returned.

It was the way you handled it. Plus do not say you will do something if you are not going to follow through with it. You told me that I didn't need to return the wires, and you would give me a refund. For someone that actually owns a business, I figured you would know how to handle a transaction. Guess not. Everyone else might have good things to say about you, but not me. And your comment shows how immature you are when handling a dispute on a transaction.

And you probably still won't be happy even after you've received a full refund. "Patience is a virtue" and it seems to be lacking in many folks these days. I support Todd not because we have had previous dealings but because I sometimes endure the same treatment he receives from you wonderful buyers who "aren't and will never be happy" - no matter what the seller does to try to make the deal right.

Which I have no issue waiting for a refund. Just don't say you are going to refund it and I don't need to replace the wires, then change your mind because I decided not to purchase anything additional from you. My expectations are aligned with what I am told, and nothing more.

Michael,

I changed my mind because you said every wire had more resistance than spec. This is highly unlikely so I wanted them back because there is probably nothing wrong with them. It's amazing to me that you reacted so poorly and continue to be so tweaked. Even if your expectation wasn't met why are you so angry? Is it the $14 you had to spend to return them?

Todd

There is nothing I hate more than someone who is ridiculously quick to hit the PayPal dispute button. For most of us, selling parts on the forum is in addition to whatever business we run / job we hold that occupies 95% of our attention, not to mention personal matters. The lack of understanding displayed on the part of the buyer here is what annoys me more than anything.

Given every single one of us - literally - has had an extremely pleasant transaction with Todd, I will find it easy to ignore someone's overzealous desire to shame a very good guy.

Yes, the fact that I had paid quickly, received bad wires then you hem and haw over them. You received the wires yesterday, I expect a refund today.

Ive had plenty of good transactions with people on this site. My expectations of someone that runs a business vs someone that is selling parts out of his garage are vastly different. I expect open communication with a business owner and for him to do what he says. To me it is a simple business transaction, I have not resorted to name calling (as many here have), and kept a level head. The reason I hit the paypal dispute button is I gave Todd a chance to respond. I know he read the PM so he could have taken the extra 5 mins to be like, "hey, I got caught up with a few things, give me another day or so". I would have been fine with that, but instead he chose to ignore me until I disputed it. It is my money, not anyone else's and yes I will make sure the transaction is taken care of. It is called personal responsibility.

To give another example, I bought a set of louvers from overseas from a vendor that stated they would be shipped end of July. Beginning of August comes with no response. I reach out to him and he quickly responds and let's me know what is going on. Todd wants to hide behind his personal life for not doing things he said he was going to do for his business. That is a bad flag for me. If I tried that where I work, that could cost my clients lots of money.

Michael,

I received the wires yesterday and was able to test them this morning. They all measured .6-.7 which is far less than a standard BMW wire. I traveled to the Bavauto website and read the description of the wires:
Loosen the reins on your thoroughbred with our 8 mm ignition wires. Stock Ignition wires have built-in resistors that reduce voltage to your spark plugs. That's like keeping a tight rein on a thoroughbred race horse -- it wants to run faster but can't. Our 8mm wires loosen those reins, providing the hotter spark your BMW craves. Both the wires and boots use a spiral core magnetic suppression conductor to provide a higher spark voltage for maximum combustion efficiency. And they're insulated with 8mm of pure silicone to completely eliminate interference. Lifetime warranty.

As I suspected there is nothing wrong with the wires.

Purchase price including freight to you has been refunded.

Have a good day.

Why the hell would he do that if there is nothing wrong with the wires? He doesn't owe you anything just because you can't troubleshoot properly.

RE: T_C_D

To date I have had conducted two different transactions w/ Todd and both have been extremely positive.

First was purchase of a manual transmission and LSD for an auto-to-manual swap on my 86 535. Todd was parting out an 87 535 and we agreed upon a price for parts and shipping; he explained that it may take a couple of weeks to pull the tranny and associated parts. Given the complexity of the job, I understood that it may take some extra time to get it right. When the parts arrived, not only was everything there, but Todd had sorted and labeled all of the small bits in separate bags. Both my local used parts guy and my mechanic were impressed at the level of detail that Todd had taken in delivery of the parts. Having everything labeled in such detail greatly facilitated the swap.

Second transaction was Todd assisted upon sale of a 3.25 LSD. Again, we agreed upon a price, and he delivered upon the transaction.

I will not hesitate in future to conduct business w/ Todd.

Thanks - Chuck Armstrong - B'ham, AL
