Painted some stuff.

Had my wife PS21 the summer wheelset while I pulled off the winter set and fixed brake pad sensor wiring, then mounted the more attractive summer wheelset. Drove it around to appreciate better tracking of non-winter treads. Actually I miss the tiny bit of extra ride height of the winter wheelset. Fixed odo gearing for quiet operation, ran "hands-free" mic wiring through driver's side dash window vent to a clip in front of instrument cluster.

Made a list of the penny-ante stuff that could be done to no functional advantage, only cosmetic and self-satisfactory mental "recently replaced" advantage.

Wife said the car runs better afterward. Who am I to argue, instead I smile and say, "good!"

Let it sit and bake another day in the sun while I'm stuck driving the old diesel merc. My driveline shudder turned into a driveline knock in first and second gear, I swear it sounds just like the failing guibo did. I'll get it up on blocks as soon as finals are over and sort this mess out.

Finished the rear bumper install.

Pulled the 5 speed tranny from the eta.

Stuck a new fuel filter on it. Can someone tell me whose brilliant idea it was to mount the fuel filter above the rear axle instead of, oh I dunno, maybe A SLIGHTLY MORE CONVENIENT PLACE? Like maybe in the engine compartment, or if it must be at the rear of the car, behind an access panel in the floor of the trunk? Good lord; having to jack the thing up, crawl under it, then find three different sized fasteners holding the filter & pump in place. Then have to go back to the auto parts store to get a set of hose clamps because the slightly corroded ones that were there fell apart when pulled off. Corrosion/rust, aided no doubt by the location of said filter & clamps.

Yeah; just a little disgusted.

Also trolled around a bit today trying to find a fuel pressure tester; nada. May have to order one then wait until after the European Adventure Tomorrow to get it back on the road. Just for kicks I'll play with the TPS a little to see if that's the reason it doesn't want to run above idle, but I still think it's a fuel pressure problem.

Dave, a well appointed hardware store will have the bits to make a gauge . Just get a reg'lar PSI gauge with whatever it takes to end up with 5/16 hose barbs. Less'n 10 bucks.

I put the charger on BB Shiftless all day @ 2 amps. It started OK for sitting for a month.

Installed some really nice non-perforated cardinal door cards!

Seriously? Just any old PSI gauge? I think I've got one from an old water pump in my junk drawer. Hmmmm...

Yesterday's adventure also included, naturally, the driveshaft, and mounting bracket,
clutch, pp, and tob, but not the flywheel , and the sheetmetal shift console.

Today's activities finished this part of the project with the removal of the Pedal Box,
clutch master and slave with lines,
and after borrowing my buddy's Snap-On 18V impact, the flywheel.
Oops, almost forgot my homemade bolted on rear shift console bracket.
Let me go get it now.

Next step is to get all this stuff neatly packed for The V delivery trip.

Now I can focus on the ///M5, the delivery vehicle.

Friday- wife's car (87) got her radio installed (thanks Leonard) using the way my buddy wired my 88. Write up to come this week for those who know and who do not know how to read a schematic.

Saturday/Sunday- water pump and hoses. Air caught in radiator that would not come out. All is well. Installed AC belt while in there.

Soon to come: AC filter drier, city lights, price out 535i muffler install, purchase new manifold gaskets (she's a loud one, 88). Fog light harness repair (wife's 87).

Bought a new coil, distributor cap and rotor button.

My crack free dash....now has a crack. I noticed it while cleaning and it happened today since I've been working on my car everyday since I bought it last month, so bummed

Installed my 15x7" e30 m3 basketweaves with some random all seasons for the time being. Quite the difference comparing he 205/60's compared to my bald 195/70 bottlecaps. Now I'm looking for some good street track tires.
