Discovered the high pressure pwr steering line from the piggy (which is in the process of being scrapped) is the correct fitment for the power steering pump on the M106, which has saved me having a custom one made up, due to the original one having the wrong pressure fitting for the new pump. Removed/Installed that.

Then went about trying to diagnose my no start. Pretty certain the starter motor is dead, as after all other wiring checked out, I still only get solenoid noise out of it, and no cranking. I'll jump pin 11-14 tomorrow morning to be sure, and if no bananas, rip the fucking thing out. The only thing stopping me from having this 0km motor start up for the first time in 1.5 years. Hopefully.

Good luck! I just dealt with the starter on my wife's Sienna. Pulled it out/apart, cleaned the (very worn) contacts for a temp fix, reinstalled. Pulled it out/apart to change the contacts, reinstalled. Pulled it out again, and replaced the damn thing. 80k original miles on it. My 4Runner has 175k on it's original one.

Took her on the first drive in a few days. I love the way it smells if I leave it alone for a few days: like an old BMW.

Drove the piss out of it.

Bombing around The Bay at 80-- listening to what sounds like a really worn TAB, bone, or SFB. It made a SQUISH when the rear left shock (new) is at its max and gets pushed further or takes another impact. I think I can duplicate it just by stomping on the gas when in fourth at ~60mph.

Otherwise, a lovely day in the bay.

Chased down a short on fuse #5. It turns out the guy doing the Euro bumper install is an idiot.

Drove the M5 to work. It's only seen local trips to soccer practice and the grocery store since awakening from its winter slumber.

50 miles over hill and highway. Hammering fourth gear from 85 through 100 is a symphony. That song draws me to ever-higher speeds and wider throttle openings (and eventually some tickets, I'm sure).

Fabulous in the twisties, a perfect high-speed cruiser, and if you want to drive like an ass-hat, bobbing through a long series of left-lane squatters, it's the perfect tool.

Definitely made a big difference. The car seems to have the common coolant temperature sensor problem, so I'm going to replace that to see if it runs without randomly jerking or dying.

Finished the front bumper.

I just need to put the side moulding on tomorrow and I'm finished.

Rest the inspection lights,put at new battery and changed the oil in the M535i for the treck to Vintage.Now I just have to wash and wax that baby for the new owner.

Performed a drain-and-fill on the slushbox. Shifts good (as always)!

Looked at it and got stressed out over having to do the head gasket.... Then I walked away.

Eibachs finally found their way under the front of the ///M5 as did Moose's UCABs.

replaced parking brakes, everything was original for the parks and dragging because it was all corroded, after 9 hours of pain I finally got the disks to fit back on by using new hardware with the old shoes. it works. everything needs to be replaced from the hubs to the diff due to corrosion. but it rolls and drives great so Im waiting to save up all the money for both sides, or until something locks up. the calipers are actually in good shape so Im just going to rebuild them (thank goodness).

Trans output shaft seal.
Replaced those little hoses on the power steering cooler that like to leak.
Tweaked the exhaust mounting per George's instructions.
More cosmetics for Vintage.

Yesterday I swapped from autopal to hella headlights....WOW what a difference!!!


I can now tell people why they should pass on autopal lights.

Drove it around after replacing my thrust arms... yesterday. Hey... it's Sunday and I have A FULL TANK OF GAS AND 46 POUNDS IN THE TRUNK*... LOL.

It's doing so much better than Friday. More suspension parts to follow. My bushings were made of mostly air.

*(jeff foxworthy voice) If you understand this... you might have replaced your e28 control arms!

Did the csb, guibo, tranny/engine mounts, and the shifter bushings(except for the front one, it was getting damn dark). Glad I did cause the guibo as it turns out was a ring of nylon reinforced with what appeared to be dust, the motor mounts were more or less three pieces each, and the tranny mounts had all the structural integrity of a squeezey toy.

couldn't have done it without Mtnman533 and Saigon535, freakin life savers!

Harvested the brake master cylinder off the parts car. Lost motivation to install it on the driver.

I did hook the driver up to the battery charger.

Re-tightened front lug bolts.

Wired amp, installed sub, changed fuel filter and debadged it!

re tightened the bolts that hold the CSB
finished taping of the wheels for paint and did some more welding on the floorboards and other rust spots.

Cleaned and vacuumed, enjoyed the realization that the item list of things needed to baseline the car is getting shorter.

Changed the OBC bulbs (purchased from Radio Shack) and cleaned/oil the K&N air filter.

Car's starting to run like a charm.

I actually did it yesterday.
