I lubricated the bushings on my heater blower and now my car smells great every time I turn on the heater blower.

The other day I got a call from Eliot. Mom's car is stuck in reverse and the shifter is loose. It is in the parking lot down town. It was a little hairy reaching underneath , finding the shift lever and pulling it back from neutral into drive. The car was e-braked and El had his 15 EEE on the wide pedal. It went into D and just loaded up. That was the easy part. Now I had to find the cable I harvested for my spares kit 9 yr ago. After about a half hour, I found it. Now I had to figure how to replace it. Bentley wasn't very helpful. The section dealt mostly with the 3hp22, which doesn't even use a cable. A blowup of the diagram helped .

Had the biggest "duuhhhh" moment in a long time.
Took my torque wrench (craftsman 1/2" clicker type) to a calibration lab to get worked on. Never had it checked in the 8 years or so that I've owned it, figured it was time. They brought it back to me less than an hour later with a 'rejected' tag on it as a joke. Nice. So, I put it in the trunk of the e30 and wait for the next chance to use it. Finally get a chance, I think it was lug nuts, and the damn thing won't tighten, only loosen. Weird. As I said, I've had the thing for years and have used it for torquing all kinds of stuff. ALWAYS righty-tighty. Soooooo, not knowing what the problem is; figuring that they reversed the innards of the head somehow... I take it back and talk to the techs. I explain my problem, they look at the wrench, and reverse (by twisting, *click!*) the back cover on the head.
"Hereyago!" with the biggest shit-eating, what-kind-of-mechanic-do-you-think-you-are grin on their faces.
Sheesh.
Riddle me this, though... Exactly how many things do you loosen while measuring the torque? I have reversible handles, I am more than willing to change handles rather than use a special tool for it... Dunno.

I think its only that way for reversed threads.

Why wait? Soak a piece of cloth with the stuff & clip it inside your vent.

Right channel in the stereo stopped working recently so I've been riding around with the muzak blasting only the left channel. It has gotten really weird sometimes, but I'm actually enjoying the mixing talents of some of these producers, and have even discovered layers of guitar riffs I had never heard before. I'd recommend giving it a try, but I can't be responsible if any Boston songs come on.

The E30 develops a tremendous shimmy at 60mph this time of year. At least now I know that it's all the beer and wine I just stuff in the boot, and I know just how to fix it.

We got a whole whopping inch of snow at my office.

So naturally, the groundskeeping folks had to break out a tracked bobcat to clean up the parking spots where no one was parked. Talk about ridiculous overkill.

Saw a now retired coworker the other day. He's been thru it since retiring, looked like he had days to live before he eventually got a liver transplant, then has been recovering gradually. But he's back. He's from Jersey, Newark specifically, and he's back. It's back to F this, F that, screw those guys, I'm doin' this, F them. Yep, attitude has returned, Doug's back.
