Replaced the o-ring in the brake booster. Ahh the joys of putting that spring in :shock:

Of course that was proceeded by replacing the brake bomb which was almost enjoyable compared to the spring.

Also cleaned and painted one mildly rust euro bucket. Number two next weekend. Lights by Christmas :D

Loaded the M528i up with 3 engines, and am now awaiting the scrappy to arrive.

On the golden poo, vacuum leak hunting.

Measured a 14MPG for my 518i.... there was a leak in the cold start injector but is this enough to give me such a crappy mileage???? :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

I would think so. It has probably also cooked your catalytic converter if your car has one.

1st Good think it doesn't ;)
2nd Why? The tube is not connected to the injector at all so there is no extra fuel going in...? Am I missing sth please explain... :roll:

What sort of shape are the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor in? Also the air filter . Do you smell fuel?

Well if you disconnected the tube on the cold start injector then it shouldn't make a difference. If it was connected and leaking excess fuel into the intake manifold (I don't know where the injector is on your engine but its on the intake manifold on the M30) then the car would be running rich dumping excess fuel into the exhaust. If the tube is disconnected from the cold start injector then I don't know why you're running rich. You could also have leaky individual fuel injectors for each cylinder but "a" brings up good points as well.

had to rig the trunk shut because the latch finally completely went bad and will not latch at all.

Yah, 'tis the season.Temp drop brings it on. Is the button sticky or is something broken? The spring gets weak and the grease turns to a rock. I have had luck taking the button apart, buffing the old grease off the chrome sleeve. Then I grease it up and re-assemble. Be careful there are small bits.

All I did was to drive B6II to get blood taken for my quarterly exam. The resonator sounds like it is leaking around the gazinta

its just broken the latch part in there does not lock down anymore. im going to get one from the yard when i go for the electrical stuff i need.

Replaced turn signal/highbeam/obc arm assembly yesterday!! I was having problems with my highbeams randomly coming on during colder temperatures.
I thought this was going to be about a 7/10 for difficulty, but as it turns out I'd give it a 2/10. Very easy job. Thanks to a well designed steering column!! I sourced a mint condition replacement from a BMW wrecker on the island here for $35.
Now to replace the exhaust... :D

Saturday I hung my muffler by with 2 zip ties and a piece of underground 10 gauge copper wire. Seems to be holding up ok.

There's not enough heat generated to do any harm, especially at the tail pipe. Also if anything they would melt. The wire is the best security for the moment, and the strongest.

took out the front driver seat. Removed all of the memory module crap (seat was from an E32). Rewired fuse 4 to the new seats and cigarette lighter.

Replaced rusty exhaust with great condition aftermarket exhaust from a 533i. New gasket, bolts and ready to go. I hate the sound of exhaust leaks... Up next: timing belt and waterpump.

Hmmm... Their prices for e32 Bilstein Sports is pretty decent too. When did that happen? And to think, the wife was asking just this morning what I'd really like for Christmas. :up:

My son mentioned one night that the eta was close to empty so we went & filled up. It took 15.9 gallons. I was like :shock: but he could've made it to school & back once. Maybe. ;)

I dunno. For some reason I Googled the part number under 'shopping' and Bav came up cheapest. Last time I bought Billys, it was a tie between TireRack and AutohauzAZ.

I had a childhood friend over for lunch and, since its a legacy of my mom's 85 535i, I uncovered him and showed Bandit off to my friend. After reconnecting the battery I started Bandit to run him for a bit to circulate the fluids. Running the same- although a little more white smoke in the beginning (first few minutes) than I remember before and the coolant was a little lower than I remember. I hope its not headgasket time but we'll see. And the coolant temperature gauge wasn't working this time. Its hit or miss. Thankfully there is a great member here who is sending me a cluster that will (fingers crossed) hopefully solve that problem.

Passenger side subframe bushing.
The driver's side has not yet begun to clunk yet.....
But I have it on hand for when it does, which I'm sure will be soon.....

I have no idea why someone would only do one subframe bushing. It's like replacing one tire when the others are 20 years old, but still have decent tread.

We do things differently here on the East Coast.

I'm not being lazy, I'm just getting ready to battle a part that needs to break to be "easier" to remove, that hasn't broken yet.

16.3 :shock: Wow, I can tell you have a working in tank pump :laugh: You were also driving for quite a while with the light on. :laugh: And I say that as someone who has been known to do that himself.
