16.3  Wow, I can tell you have a working in tank pump  You were also driving for quite a while with the light on. And I say that as someone who has been known to do that himself.
Where is that light? Anyone have a picture of it lit? My in tank pump is likely not working so I always have to fill-er-up at 1/4. I just remember it being a cool light but haven't seen it since my mom's 535i...

The light never came on. Tank said it was just under full. In-tank pump was replaced last year. I guess the whole sender is bad.

Gave it a good cleaning yesterday, and lamented the loss of clear coat this year on my roof, hood, and trunk. She still looks good, but I hate the beat down look. :(

Today, put on a new (from the yard) driver's B-pillar cover. A decent replacement passenger rear door seal from the yard went on too. New headlight bulbs went in. Changed the engine oil and filter, air filter, and put new rotors and pads on the back end brakes. All in all, a good bonding day with my car.

Pulled the bus wheel off of the steering column & replaced it with the sport wheel; much nicer! Then we lubed up the passenger door window mechanism and put on the black/tan combo door panel in place of the all tan one. Looking good!

Prepped and painted the rockers with Wurth Stoneguard.
Painted the replacement "is" air dam that has been sitting in garage repaired for 3 months... Need to mount it today.
Finished the euro lights and got them installed and adjusted.
Son was home to help. We had a pretty busy week here ;)

Took advantage of our extremely warm (+/-80 degrees) and dry weather and washed both the Honda and black 535i. Can't say they didn't need it.
Getting ready to install the new keyless entry system.

I added a USB charging port for either my Ipod or Droid. I'm not sure I'll keep it in this same location but it will do for now.

Compression tested it. Well, 4 of the cylinders at least. Can't get the comp testers attachment into the last two, so im gunna have to think up another way of doing it. Numbers are good so far, fingers crossed this isn't the cause of my missfire.

I changed the oil and filter. I filled with 2 qts 20w 50, 2 qts 5w30 and 12 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil . The pipes have parted somewhere between the cat and the resonator. Made for a buzzy commute to work. I hope to ramp it tomorrow afternoon to have a look.

Took a couple of pics of the '88's progress. My almost finished trunk after some rust cleanup and paint. Also a quick rocker panel shot after some surface rust cleanup, POR15, undercoating and flat black.

Probably not as dramatic a change as you guys were thinking but the trunk was still pretty dingy before. I took all the spots of rust down to bare metal before covering. The rockers were fairly clean, just some areas of worn paint and some gouges in the stone guard. I did have some spots of surface rust to clean up also but again nothing major. I'll start a thread in the pictures section once I get some more things done. Thanks for the words though, its motivation to go do some more work...

Finished the PS pump change on the american boat car in time to remove the car from the garage bay, insert e28, and remove e28 PS pump. Although it's only 6:50pm, it'll be tomorrow before the new pump gets installed, since I'm wiped out from the other car, and I do have beer requiring installation as well.

Replaced the rotten resonator and patched the holes in the pipes going to the muffler. Then I noticed the muffler was bad. I wrapped it with a piece of galvanized 8" duct and secured it with about 40 tek screws. Major PITA, but the result is quiet. The exhaust was so loud that I couldnt hear the radio. Thursday, I fixed the interior lights. The wire had rotted in the foot well. I spent a half hour finding the circuit diagram . Then started at the connector to the left light. No continuity. Then I noticed a bulge in the wire jacket with a green smear on it. I had to do the same repair to every Grand Wag I had. As usual, the BmW version was much easier to fix.

Replaced that rubber grommet that had disintegrated around my antennae so now I have one less place for water to get in trunk. I also fixed a horrible shimmy that had developed by dropping off a trunk full of New Year's bottles at the recycler.

New bearings all around, and new coated Balo rotors and Jurid pads, with fresh ATE gold fluid. Also new water pump.

Quite the undertaking with only hand tools......
