Spent an hour picking parts for the HG r&r....

so, do I really need new head bolts....?

She should be happier without the cap and rotor from 1991 and chewed up spark plugs... and the various vacuum leaks...

I had both low beams fail simultaneously. It turned out that it was just that: both bulbs blew at once. That's the second time in my life that's happened to me.

Whenever a low beam fails, I bend back the low beam spade and save it as a spare high beam bulb.

Washed both of them. The three-spoke wheel is a GREAT idea.

just finished installing rear adjustable sway bar and test drive was amazing! big difference and finally glad to have both front and rear now installed. Also, installed fog lights. happy times

New Jurid pads all around, urethane tranny mounts and a urethane steering column flex-disc.

New Meyle HD subframe bushings-an absolute joy to do with the right tools, new tranny mounts, and new backup switch, and fresh engine oil.

The old subframe bushings were torn in half! Sure does track nice now.

Last week was the -is conversion.

I think I'm done for a while. Of course, the car may have other ideas.....

Washed the Beat Her, and claybar'ed the top surfaces.
It's shinier now, but all those dings and dents kinda stand out MORE!

Nothing today, but last night was interesting. I drove it from where it had been parked for the last week to a borrowed garage where it will await an upcoming clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing R&R. Had to move it so that it wouldn't be towed or buried when the snow removal crew came in to clear the lot.

The drive was made interesting by two things...
1. Made the trip using the clutch as little as possible because of the screaming throwout bearing. Used rev-matching for everything except starting from a dead stop; fun!
2. Freezing drizzle. Normally wouldn't have been a big deal, but right now the heater blower is sitting on my workbench, waiting to be reinstalled. Had to pull over a number of times to scrape the windscreen. After a while a little heat found its way through the defroster vent... enough to keep a small patch clear at the bottom of the windshield, making it possible to see the road ahead by peering through the steering wheel and over the dash. The new blower motor I ordered didn't get installed yet because it arrived the same day the throwout bearing decided to change its tune from a low growl to a high-pitched scream, and the clutch pedal decided not to return to its normal position, which totally freaked out my 16 yr old kid (now he wants an automatic. I tell him beggars can't be choosers.) So the car is parked until it gets repaired.

Had a dream last night that the snow slid from the roof onto the hood & windshield, damaging both. So I backed the car up 6 feet.
Still dealing with snow scabs on the streets where early traffic packed it down so the plows couldn't remove it. Not good for a lowered spoilered car!

Shuffled them them around in the driveway whilst I cleaned up a bit with a fresh Ariens. This one has 'lectric start.
Marina's car has a binding in the steering that needs attention. The re-lubed blower motor is very quiet. B6II has a growing list of stuff to deal with. Both cars are loving the cold temps.

Drove it to work and tuned my closed loop idle.

Let me know if anyone is interested in meeting, if so I will drive my 535 down. Otherwise I am driving M5....

Gonna be practicing on my son's E30 over Christmas weekend, an E28 over New Year's sounds doable, except for New Years day (see above post).

Wish I was closer to Houston - I would join you.

I just installed new Bilstein sports and H&R springs in the 535is. I'm really enjoying the ride and like the lowered stance.

Next is euro bumpers.... The car is getting there....

i took it to emissions testing and it failed

So we'll be seeing a new E28 at our next Burgers and Fives meet.

Put the interior back in (so much quieter with a shift boot!), FINALLY got a radio back in the car, adjusted the valves, and painted the valve cover while it was off

She's running and looking a lot better and now I won't go insane driving to work/school without a radio.

Yesterday I installed my 173 ecu, changed the oil (VR1 FTW!), and installed new spark plugs. She has much more pep and livliness now!

Washed it in preparation for the Hair Of the Dog Drive.

Haven't done anything with it today (and likely won't) but I did stop by where it's stored yesterday & gave it a once-over. :sigh: I miss driving that car, but with the sloppy/snowy/crappy streets, it's probably better off tucked away safely in a garage.

The wife & I came to an agreement on fixing the clutch, and it'll have to wait until spring; better finance-wise and weather-wise. Until then I'll be working on other little projects and collecting parts for the clutch job.

Anybody up for a Spring Equinox Wrenchfest?

I've been working on the garage queen, the Euro M5. I've been grinding at the horrible crap done to the headers during Federalization. The rear header is almost ready for having new pipe and flanges welded to it. Hope to have the work on the headers completed by the end of the weekend.

I've also been researching where to source all the cooling hoses. Holy smokes, talk about pricey, looks like BMP will be getting my $$$s. They sell a kit of all the cooling system hoses for just under $200. All the other sources it totals out to nearly $300 !!!

I'm heading out to the garage for more quality time with my 4 -1/2" angle grinder.
