Well, I am wondering why all the discussion on a for sale thread that truly belongs in the technical section. Those of you with negative comments could be 100% correct but the fact that I have sold more than a few on all the forums I am on, shows a different view point. For those who made positive comments, thank you. For those who had to show their knowledge and piss on my thread, I don't have to say anything as you know what it would be.

I still have 4 left

Welcome to discussion forums. When you start paying for advertising, people will stop asking questions or discussing the viability of this modification.

The world is not made of sunshine and lollipops. I didn't realize I should have received a trophy for not spilling oil during an oil change.

Chris, thank you for those words of wisdom. I guess I am used to the E24 forums, at least the 2 major ones, where common courtesy is observed. That does not mean someone can't rip someone up, it's just done in the appropriate place.

Whether or not you agree, is what it is, but on both bigcoupe and bimmerforums, they have shut guys off for that crap

There's a reason I don't go to bimmerforums or big coupe and didn't re-sign up when my account was purged. I'd rather converse with people who know what they're talking about or at least have opinions based on experience rather than conjecture.

I am just trying to pull your chain and give some of the piss back to where it came from. If people don't like my stuff, it's their choice, and as you well know, it really doesn't effect us as sellers. People will buy what they want and pay what they think is fair. As you know, if you don't like what I have or my price, go somewhere else. I am too old to get put off by someone 's crap that isn't worth anything to begin with.

I believe bert poliakoff is referring to a certain long gone (because it was actually deleted) FS thread on bigcoupe that referenced a so called "mint" steering wheel that he was flipping for 3 times the price that I originally sold it to him for. When I went on bigcoupe to set the record straight as to the wheel's condition, bert actually had the moderator delete the entire thread. No record of the thread exists. I certainly didn't think to keep a copy of it. Who would have thought that vendors had that power.

Demet, sounds like sour grapes. I paid your price and the fellow that bought it from me was happy. What happened to free enterprise? You were deleted when the moderator, of which I have no affiliation, read your thread and he deemed it in appropriate. the bottom line is I did nothing to harm you. If this is shit on Bert day, guys have at it, as I am done until my next one. Then you can go at me again.

Chris and Ray both have bought and sold parts to and from me and some how there never seemed to be a problem

Wow bert, that is exactly what you said I was feeling, "sour grapes", because you were selling something for a price I didn't even consider possible. Listen bert, on this forum all I see you doing is peddle your wares. You don't have anything else of value to contribute to this forum.

PS. I would love you to try to get this thread deleted. Anyone know if I can make vineger with sour grapes.

With all due respect....I don't understand how you can be upset by any of the comments made. Simple statements have been made based on what you have for sale. I was not trying to $hit in your thread but simply wondered why anybody would want to make a mess for themselves when changing the oil. This offering simply allows one to utilize a spin-on and that is cool. I am sure that some people, somewhere, might benefit from the cheaper oil filters. I, myself, appreciate the factory design where you can back off the bolt and let some oil drain back and settle, thus making the cleanup or "lack thereof" possible. As a matter of fact, the biggest beef I had with the S14 motor was the fact that the filter head sits at about the same angle with the same location yet it's a spin-on which made a MESS anytime I would change my oil. Having a cannister design on that configuration would have been ideal though it is tight quarters.

I don't feel like I need to apologize for adding my thoughts in your for sale thread....after all, this is an enthusiasts forum. If you feel that my intent was to $hit on your thread, I am sorry but it wasn't my intent. Best of luck with your adapters.

The point is to not put dirty oil back into the motor by leaving it inside the canister.

Ron's daily beater has somewhere in the neighborhood of 400k on it. His youngster garage queen might have 80 on her.

Daily driver has 553k. Other one has about 105k. No garage, so it's not a garage queen – it's just the one under the cover.

Please tell me you got the joke. :|

I'm of the opinion that more your 553k car is more well known than the new one.

Spin-on oil filter adapter installed. Thanks Bert for this modification allowing use of a much better assortment and quality of filters. I'll be keeping close tabs on oil degradation via Blackstone with the intent of extending oil change intervals. Pictured with Fram XG8A filter installed.

Thank you Mike

Mike turned out to be kind of the guinea pig in all of this as the first run I did was off. Thanks to Mike's patience and input, they are now absolutely spot on

I agree. It's so satisfying to change oil with the canister after years of spin-on filters. It's particularly nice in my e34 and e36.

spin on adaptor

Post by mbb »

Bert,

Sign me up for one. I have been looking for another for awhile and glad to see the adaptor is still available. I've had one on my e28 for 4 years and need one for my e24. You should mention that they are more beneficial if you are using an OEM oil cooler since that canister is a little tougher to manage. I use a big -ass Mobil 1 filter on the e28
Thanks, Mike

Does anyone know if the m30/m106 filter housing has any type of anti drainback valve? Looking at the design of the Mahle filter, it's probably safe to assume this doesn't have any accommodations.

Drainback valves are only in housings like the B35 and the M5x stuff, where the canister is above the filter head.

Mike that is exactly why I had them made, as I do have a factory oil cooler on my car and it is a bit of a hassle to change the filter out.

I have sent you a PM
